AUTHORIZING NY/NJ BAYKEEPER / AMERICAN LITERAL SOCIETY
TO APPLY FOR GREEN ACRES FUNDING FOR WATERFRONT ACCESS
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough'0 desires to promote
enhanced waterfront access and recreational opportunities for the general public
to compliment to the Borough's Arthur Kill Waterfront Recreation improvement
Project; and
WHEREAS, the NY/N3 Baykeeper / American Literal Society, Sandy Hook,
N.1, (the "Baykeeper'0 has offered to assist the Borough in these efforts by
applying to the N3 Department of Environmental Protection / Green Acres for
funding on behalf of the Borough to acquire the rights to potential waterfront
sites to be dedicated for public access and enjoyment; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body welcomes the assistance of the
Baykeeper in efforts to provide enhanced waterfront recreation opportunities.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the
Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New 3erseyas follows:
1. That the Baykeeper is hereby authorized to apply for NJ
Department of Environmental/Green Acres funding for the acquisition of rights to
potential waterfront sites for dedication to public access, use and enjoyment for
recreational purposes.
2. That a certified copy of this resolution be forwarded to the
Baykeepers' office at Gateway National Recreation Area, Building 18, Sandy
Hook, Highlands, N] 07732.
