The minutes of the last meeting were approved. j Reports of City Officers for the month of April, 1960 were 'received. Requests for street lights on Mesa Avenue were referred to the 4 ; Water and Light Committee. Request for a street light on Debra Street was referred to the Water and Light Committee. ! Report of the Trustee' s for Mary B. Heinrich' s, deceased, was received and ordered filed. j Request was received from Mr. Ralph Jobe, Jr. for a 20 m.p.h. ;zone on Houchin Street and was referred to the Parking and Traffic jCommission. A letter was received from the Division of Employment Security 'suggesting that parking be eliminated entirely on the south side lof Dunklin in the 400 block or that parking be prohibited between 17: 30 a.m. and 8: 15 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to 5: 15 p.m. ! The request was referred to the Parking and Traffic Commission. ( A letter was received from the Chamber of Commerce requesting the !Council to seriously consider washing the streets five days a week. I The matter was referred to the Street Committee. ,1 A letter was received from the Fire Chief requesting permission to ;conduct a home to home fire prevention plan. ! The request was granted. �( A letter was received from Mrs. Edna Schmidt, 300 E. Dunklin, for is permit to move her beauty shop now located at 124 E. Dunklin into Sher home at 300 E. Dunklin. The request was referrers to the Planning and Zoning Commission A letter was received from Edward R. Boack, pastor of "Our Savior' s ILutheren Church" , asking for two street lights on Mesa Ave. The request was referred to the Water and Light Committee. The reappointment of Mr. E. C. L. Wagner, Mr. Phil Dallmeyer and ; !from P. H. Daniels to the Planning and Zoning Commission was received, �!from Mayor Whaley.. The appointments were approvedw�--- 'i Request was received from the Planning and Zoning Commission for 30 days additional time to study the request to rezone Miller Street from Broadway to Mulberry. The request was granted. t On motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Scrivner, the sum of ;$10,000.00 due on the Airport Bonds plus $75.00 interest on same, twas ordered paid to the Central Missouri Trust Co. out of the d Airport Ftind. i Re yu gar Martin May _2, 1960 Bids on a car for use of the Milk Inspector were received as follows; Smith Ford Net to City $1478 .21 Riley Chevrolet Net to City 1543.90 The bids were referred to the Milk Inspector, Mr. Willcoxon .and Mr. Vanderfeltz with power to act. Bids were received on lots on Sullivan Street, Capital Avenue and Capital Avenue extension as follows: Robert Livingston Total $842.70 Joe Thoenen Total 453.00 The bid of Robert Livingston was accepted. Bids were received on furnishing; and installing Aluminum sash and screens for the Fire Departments as follows: Roark Aluminum WindowCo. (39 windows) $431.80 Clifford Schneiders 489 .95 Omar Runge $492.00 and 467.40 DeLong' s Inc. 471. 10 The bid of Roark Aluminum Window Co. was accepted with the two additional windows included at the average price per window. Bids were received for furnishing; License Receipts, etc. as follows: Central Printing Co. $192.00 Commercial Printing; Co. 201.50 The bid of the Central Printing Company was accepted. Mr. Alex Vetter reported that the Bond Issue ADvisory Committee . is recommending that the City sell $300,000.00 of Parking Lot Bonds and $600,000.00 of Street Bonds. On motion of Mr. Hager, permission was granted to Mrs. Stein to install a crossing; from her Junk Yard to Industrial Road. On motion of Mr. Dorr, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon, the Committee of the Whole was instructed to work with the City Attorney in drawing; up an ordinance controlling junk yards. Mayor Whaley stated that on May Lath, the Public Service Commission is having a hearing; in re water rates . The City Engineer reported that the Sewer Commissioner had inspected homes in the West End of town and found some homes on a false sewer, which empties into an open creek. Thirty eight homes on septic tanks and false sewers in Livingston And Jordan Subdivision. On motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Scrivner, the Street Commissioner, Plumbing Inspector and Mr. Hager were requested to check where sewage drains and see what can be orked out. It was moved by Mr. Willcoxon and seconded b Mr. Scrivner that the Acting Police Judge be paid a salary of $140 .00 per month. : Th'g morrow NSA i Aq�O girl, On motion of Mr. Hager, seconded by Mrs. Fisher, the Mayor was authorized to contact Charles and Trauernicht in regard to the sale . of $900,000.00 bonds. On motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mrs. Fisher, permission was granted to Mr. Jim Stegeman to extend Cottage Lane down to the creek with concrete material under private contract and under supervision of the City Engineer. On motion of Mr. Hager, seconded by Mr. Dorr, the Mayor appointed the following committee in regard to acquiring more land fo extension of runways at the Airport. Mr. Willcoxon, Chairman, Mr. Phil Dallmeyer and Mr. John Hendee ; ;20 Regular Meeting, May 2 1960 Request for a stop sign at Russell and Adams was referred to the Parking and Traffic Commission. The Police Department (Mr. Lale) were instructed to find out why the ;school traffic light at Sr. High School is not being used. Request of Mr. Elder for permission to widen the curve on the jwest side of Fairmount Court was referred to the Street Committee. Mrs. Fisher stated that the street signs should be replaced and 'put in order so strangers can find their way around town. Mrs. Fisher reported that the Missouri Power and Light Company ',is going to lower the lights in the 1100 block St. Mary' s Blvd. ands, ;!they should give plenty of light . Construction report was received from the City Engineer on the ' construction of Sewer District No. 76 "A". The work was done by E. P. Barnett at a cost of $3566.60. The following report was received from the Police Board. "The Committee recommends that police car number 12 be replaced and that the clerk be notified to advertise for bids. This car now has over 50,000 in mileage and was recently damaged in a mishap.? The report was approved. The following resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that the work of constructing of sewers in Sewer District No. 76 "A" be and is hereby approved as the Council finds that said work was done according to plans and specifications." The following resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved by the City Council. of the City of Jefferson, . Missouri, that taunter Bros . Cons' t . Co. , be awarded the Contract for the Construction of Hough Park Street from Greenberry Road south : 2080 feet, the said taunter Tiros . Cons' t . Co. , having the lowest and best Bid." The following; resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that Cure-Linhardt Cons' t. Co. , be awarded the Contract ; for the widening of Dunklin Street between U.S. No. 50 and Broadway ! "An Ordinance levying and assessing a special tax against each lot or piece of ground lying between and situate within the bounds of ` Sewer District No. 76 "A" in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, in the ; name of the owner or owners thereof for constructing and completing sewers therein."
