Reports of City Officers for the month of September were received. A letter was received from Bond and Domonique, notifying the City of the claim of Mrs. Mary Hertzing for an accident on September 7, 1960. The matter was referred to the City Attorney. A petition was received requesting the paving of Franklin Street+ ,!between Lafayette and Jackson Streets. The petition was referred to the Street Committee. A cost estimate on resurfacing streets in Jefferson City was �Yeceived from Mr. Stewart Hunter. The communication was ordered ;filed with the City Engineer. -r---- �I �+ A letter was received from City Engineer, L. J. Henry, requesting that his salary e raised $150.00 per month. Y P ' The matter was referred to the Committee of the Whole. j It was moved by Mr. Willcoxon and seconded by Mr. R. Jobe, thatll a special permit be issued to Mr. and Mrs. J. T. Evans, 1205 !j Madeline Street to operate a day nursery for children. The motion was adopted. I A letter was received from St. Joseph' s Catholic School, in regard to the width of the street in front of the school and also 'asking that a patrolman or watchman be provided at certain hours. The matter was referred to the City Engineer, Special Road I 'District and Traffic Department. j A bill was presented to the Council from the Dual Parking Meter'f j�Company in the amount of $656. 16 for 16 parking meters which were ;installed by the City on trial. On motion of Mr. R. Jobe, seconded by Mr. Willcoxon, the bill I ;was ordered paid. I Bills were presented to the Council for medical treatment to p s. Margie Wilder, Mrs. Letta Kleinhammer and Mrs. Lucille Patterso For injuries received by striking the traffic signal box at the corn r of Ugh and Monroe Streets. The matter was referred to the City Attorney. I A bid on making an audit of the City Books from April 1, 1959 t6 I une 30, 1960 for a minimum of $950.00 and a maximum of $1200.00 was'.; i eceived from Williams-Keepers-Oliver and Payne. Co. was accepted. t' I! + Regular Meeting, October 3, 1960 Bids on the improvement of High Street from Washington to Mulberry Street were received as follows: Columbian Asphalt Co. $2600.00 Hunter Bros, Const. Co. 3000.00 The bid of Columbian Asphalt Co. was accepted. Estimate No. 5 on the Dunklin Street widening project, amount- ! ing to $23,592.86 was received from the contractor, Cure-Linhardt Const. Co. On motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Dorr, the estimate ;; was ordered paid. i On motion of Mr. D. Jobe, the bills which were approved by the ;; Accounts and Claims Committee were ordered paid. Mr. Convoy spoke of the bad condition of sidewalks in the southside area, also stated he would like an ordinance passed controlling the height of signs as blind people run into them. The matter was referred to the Street Committee and City Attorney Mr. R. Jobe reported that the road in the 1500 and 1600 block E. Miller is chipped off on both sides and requested that the Street Commissioner put blacktop on the sides. The matter was referred to the Street Committee. Mr. R. Jobe requested the opening of the alley between Jackson.,? Adams, Case and Union Streets. The request was referred to the Street Committee, Mr. R. Jobe stated that the Ostopathic Assn. would like to have a loading zone at their property in the 300 block E. McCarty. The matter was referred to the Parking and Traffic Commission. , Mr. Kliegel requested that the Planning and Zoning Commission make a complete study of the City for protection of residential areas in regard to Trailer Courts. The Mayor advised that work is alread being done on the matter.' Mr. Scrivner reported that the Gem Theatre Building is in a dangerous condition. 't The following construction report was received from the City Engineer.on the construction of Hough Park Street from Greenberry Road bouth 470 feet. The work was done by Hunter Brothers Const. Company at a cost of $1,844.01. The report was approved. A construction report was received from the City Engineer for ih construction of Hough ,Park Street from the north R/W line of Kolb Drive, south 1,580 feet. The work was done by Hunter Brothers Construction Company at a cost of $23,041.30. The report was approved. A construction report was received from the City Engineer for the construction of Allen Avenue from the end of pavement to the north curb of Hayselton Drive, and Gene Marlin Drive from the No. curb line of Allen Avenue @ Sta. 12 f 14 NW 210 feet. The work was done by E. P. Barnett at a cost of $29,032.82. The report was approved. The following resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that the work of constructing Gene Marlin Drive and Allen . "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, ! ssouri, that the work of constructing Hough Park Street, from the !! orth right of way line of Kolb Drive south 1580 feet be and is a' ereby approved as the Council finds that said work was done according to plans and specifications."
