The following communication was received from the Central Missouri Truet Company. "Iii accordance with the laws of Missouri this trust company .; proposes to act as the depository of funds of the City of Jefferson ?y for the period from July 1, 1959, to July 1, 1961, and thereafter . until a new depository has been selected and qualified, and we agree to accept any or all parts of such funds of the City of Jefferson for deposit and to make no charge for deposits to or withdrawals from such funds, but in view of the fact it is unlawful : for any bank or trust company of deposit to pay interest upon such deposits , no payment of any bonus or interest will be paid upon these deposits . If this proposal be accepted, we will continue to pledge United States Government securities as collateral therefor in an amount sufficient to guarantee payment upon presentation of your checks drawn upon us by your proper officers, when funds shall be Re ,,ular Meet n 1,9 59 on deposit with us for such purpose. I The following communication was received from the Southwesten jBell Telephone Company. i "Please refer to our letter of April 14, 1959 under the above I !subject which transmitted three copies of an exhibit showning a proposed telephone crossing of U.S . Highway 50 at Walnut Street. This crossing; is made necessary by the State Highway De- partment' s new urban highway improvement program and we have already' received permission from the state for this work. I am wondering if you have now been able to secure permission Ifrom your city. In case the original request has been lost at- tached are three additional copies of the exhibit." On motion made and seconded the request was granted, if the Jelephone Company does not block any part of the City Street after .!highway is built. E i The following.; report was received from the Planning and Zoning' ;,Commission. "This Commission has considered the matter of the request for ;;rezoning; of 623 Clark Ave. , which was referred to the Commission by Ithe City Council. Notice of a hearing:; on that matter by the Commission having 'been published in the newspaper, and several persons having been heard, the Commission voted to reaffirm its recommendation to the ;City Council on December 1.5, 1958. That recommendation was : that the Cotlumission recommend to the City Council that both sides of Clarlc Avenue, between Elm Street and Dunklin' Street, �t be rezoned from District "13" to District "G" , the District- "L;" on the east side of Clark Avenue to extend in depth to I Benton Street and the portion ort the wcGst sides of Claris Avenue: to extend in depth to the: alley west of Clark Avenue:." i On motion made and seconded, the report was approved. Mr. Will.coxon reported verbally that the Finance Committee recommends that 2 additional policemen be allowed for the Police Department. The report was adopted. The following; report was received from the Street Committee . "The matter of widening of Chestnut Street between High and McCarty. We recommend that Chestnut Street be widened 5 feet on Fast side of Street, to be paid for from Bond Issue. The matter of vacating alley between Madison and Monroe Street. We recommend that alley be vacated but City retain an easement on all utilities . Fred Williams on Minnesota Street wants some gravel by his new home. The following report was received from the Police Board. "The Police Board recommends that the Police Department be authorized to purchase the new automobile license directory. The committee also recommends that the City Cleric be instructed to advertise for bids for replacements of cars #12 and #15 . The report was approved. " The following; report was received from the Parking and Traffic Commission. "After due consideration of matters referred to this Regular i T klay 13 ,-1259 Commission by the City Council, the following reco►imiendat-3ons were trade at the regular meeting; of the Commission held on May 1.8 , 1959 . (Hutchison for a 'loading zone to be established south of the Missouri: Pacific depot at the intersection of Monroe and East State Streets iicawas referred to the Commission by the City Council.. In regard to . that request and other elements of parking; and traffic at or near iithat location, investigated by a committee of Commission members , ''the following recommendations are made by the Commission: !That a no-parking zone be established on the north side of East iState Street from the west right-of-way line of Madison Street to thlb east curbline of Adams Street. The width of East State Street lbetween Adams and Monroe Streets is too narrow to permit two way ;traffic with vehicles parked on both sides of East State, and East iState between Monroe and Madison Streets is too narrow to permit ;safe passage for two way traffic with cars parked on both sides ,of East State Street . "That a loading; zone be established on the north side of East State :Street for a distance 107 feet east of a point 12 feet west of the ;east right-of-way line of Monroe Street, with parking; therein , limited to 30 minutes, the purpose of which is to facilitate access Ito the depot by Missouri_ Pacific passengers and their transportation.. 12 .
