Jobe, 8liegel Scrivner and VanderfiltzlWillcoxon 1.0 Absent: Pone A quorum was declard present. i Mr. Me Dowell spoke on the chatter of widening Noter Dame :Street. Also would like permission to put tile all the way up to the Golf Course, and build drain and tie into city drain. The matter was referred to the Street Committee. s+.tie ere Mr. Ray Sok e submitted and- a plat of a propreded subdivision on Schott Road. The matter was referred to the Plaming and Zoning Commissi6n to have a meeting aOdLjireport(:b&ck at June 22nd meeting of the Counsel A protest against the re-zbbbiggof the 600 block of Clark Ave. was received and read to the Coumcil. Atty. R. R. Nacy, representing Mr. Frank Shrimpf, and other spoke in favor of therezoning, of the 600 block of Clark Ave. Atty. James Riley spoke in apposition to the rezoning of the 600 block of Clark Ave. On motion of Mr. Hager seconded by Mrs. Fidher the Mayor and Street Committee were instructed to look into the possibility of employing Mr. Jim Hunter to assist the city Ewigimeer. City Atty. Tom Rose spoke of the damage by a city owned truck to the car bf Mr. Rodney Eillis and Ruth Ann Ellis, his wife pf Cha)Cles City, Iowa. He stated he would like to have a check for $542.% drawn by the City Clark to pay for the damage. On motion of Mr. R. Jobe seconded by Mrs. Fisher the City Clerk was instructed to send check for the above damage. City Atty Rose stated that he talked to Mr. Kaenigfeild, regarding trash in a ditch at St. Mary' s Blvd. City would put . in pipe past ditch but would need an easement from Mr. Koringfield. The matter was referred to the Street Committee and the City Atty. On motion of Mr. R. Jobe, the City Clerk was requisted to write Roy Scheperle and ask that the work be dope on Hough Park Road. and Isom Drive. The City Clerk was also instructed to check on Muencks Const. Company in regard to *t6rW on!)Binder Drive. _r w_r r r• Mr. Condit reported aa4 complaint of the unhealthy condition in the 300 block of East State Street especially 318 East State. The matter was referred to the Board of Health. The matter of weeds at 411 East High and 411. East High was referred to the Police Department to serve notice. 200 Regular Meeting , June 15, 1959 i A proposed agreement between the City of Jefferson and the 'State Highway commission concerning sewer lines which cross New Highway , 50 was read to the Council By City Atty. Rose. 4 fI ±j Mr. Hager inquired as to our situation in regard to parkinglots. "Mr. Rose advised that the Judge will appoint commissioners who will; ';report back to cour6 the prices for property they feel is reasonalbe. Mme. Fisher asked that the weeds be cut on city owned property Un the 900 bock of Moreau Drive and at Atchison and Bald Hill Road.j f it Mr. Hager asked what the Council wanted the special Committee ! to find out or do about the junk yard. Said the Committee would go :i �. ;lout and look over the property. I i A letter was received from Sh%ppers Electronics for a 35 foot loading zone of parking zone at 125 West Dunklin Street. A letter was received from Mr. John Von Hise requesting that Atwo parking spaces be provided in fromt of the Missouri Hotel for ]exclusive use of taxi cabs. the request was referred to the 44W. A petition was received asking an ordinance be passed providing ! that no through through truck traffic be permitted to enter at the "following intersections ; Highway 50 West and South West Blvd. Highway 54 South ans Staduim Blvd. Old Highway 54 South and South West Blvd. The request was beferred to the Parking And Traffic Committee. I A petition was recieved from property owners in the 1200, 1300 and 1400 block of Sputh West Blvd requesting an ordinance !reducing the speed from 40 miles per hour to 30 miles per hour on t4s ;route, The request was referred to the Parking and Traffic Committer. ! A letter was received from the Housing Authority, supplementing their letter of Jume 1st and requesting re-zoning of six additional `!areas in the city. The request was granted. A letter was recieved from Mrs A. A. Bossman Builfing Comm. Ii j Requesting that the sum fo 11.00 be refunded to Mr. Adolph Kirschmei ±j covering a building permit issued to him, as the house was never bui l The request was granted. ' r A petition was received regarding the widening of Notre Dame;l, Street. The petiton was ordered filed. it �i The following report was recieved from the finance Commettee� Recommended that Hunter Brothers Construction Company be given bid on Chestmut Street. Recommended that bids on tax reciepts for i' city collector be given to New Day Press. Recommended that printin� of minutes be helk over for further study. Signed be Finance Commettee. The report was Approved. !? rwrrrr_.. The following report was recieved from the Street Committee. We recommend that City buy case tractor and mower providing it meets all specfications . The Alis Chamers did not meet specfications. The matter of Mr. Tirard at Hillbilly Village drainage. There was no action taken, until alley has been graded. . The vacating of Castle Street Between Hall Street and Marilyn Street. We recommend request be granted but city retain an; easement for sewer line. Request of Mr. Wiggins to grade and gravel Roland Street and vacate Wiggins street in front ofLLots, 23, 24 , 25, 26, 29 , 30 31, 32, and Mr. Wiggins will Deed lot 33 to City. We recommend htat request be approved. The Matter of Mr. Johnson on Hough Park Road (drainage) no action taken. R. E. The following report was received from the Parking and Traffic Commission. Report to the City Council After due considerstion of matters referred to the Commission by the City Council and matters originating within the Commission, the follo31ng recommendations were nade to the City Council at the regular meeting of the Commission on June 12, 1959 , to be submitted to the City Council on June 15, 1959 . 202 4 � 1. (Item 16) That no parking be permitted at an# time on the West , side of Moreau Drive, from East Atchison Street to Hillcrest, no y✓on Ithe East side of Moreau Drive frptp Hillcrest to the intersection of ! Fairmount Boulevard. Morear Drive, between these points, is too narrow 'Ito allow safe passage of two-way traffic with automobiles parked on . ;' both sides of the street. The fact that Moreau Drive is arterial makes ; two-way traffice necessary. i2. (Item 13) That no parking be permitted at any time on the East ; side (the left dide,proceeding toward Fairmount Boulevard) of Fairmount lBoulevard from the present no-parking sone near Chestnut Street to 16he intersection of Moreau Drive, for the same reasons as set forth '; in 1. above. � 3. (Item 14) That the matter of angle parking on that portion of the 300 block of Washington Street situated South of the alley, referred Ito the Commission by the City Council on May 18, 1959, be concidered by a committee comprised on Leon W.
