I� Request for rezoning of Grandview Place Addition was received and was referred to the Planning and Zoning Commission. i Request was received from Rite-Way Poultry Company for a special permit for the construction and operation of a fowl dressing1 lant at 513 Walnut Street. The request was referred to the Building and Grounds l�Committee, City Attorney and Mr. Vanderfeltz to report back at ;middle of month Council Meeting. j; !� Request to establish the grade on Grandview Drive was eceived, and the City Engineer was instructed to establish the ' grade. + i A letter was received from Mabel Thompson McCall asking j ;:that she be given a deed to the 33 foot wide end of St. Paul Street,'; ;which was vacated by the City. .t City Attorney Rose stated that he will advise Mrs . McCall .to have deed prepared. ! A petition for a street light in the 700 Block Broadway �. as received and referred to the Water and Light Committee. it A petition was received complaining of the dumping of rubbish and garbage at the old City Quarry on Bald Hill Road. The matter was referred to the Street Commissioner to build A barracade across the road. I A request was received from Edwin and Tommy Goldammer, eking the Council to establish a sewer district, making sewers vailable for lots along Winston Drive. The matter was referred to the City Engineer and Street is ommittee. A request was received from Mr. James A. Stegeman for permission to extend the existing 8 inch sanitary sewer line %ppro 920 feet further into his property on St. Mary' s Blvd.' ' nd east of Howard Street. j Mr. Stegeman was granted permission to extend the sewer pon approval of the State Board of Health. ERequest for permission to connect into the 18 inch storm Lewer pipe in front of lot 6, subdivision of Outlot 55. The matter was referred to the City Engineer and City ' ;attorney with power to act. A petition was received asking that Allen Drive be concreted'.! 'from the end of the existing pavement and to end at the beginning of �ot No. 186. The matter was referred to the Street Committee. A communication, signed by members of the Street Department, . as received, asking that vacations for all members of the Street epartment be extended to two weeks and that their wages be increased from $1. 60 per hour to $1.85 per hour. i1 Regular Meeting, February 2 1959 The matter was referred to the Finance Committee and the Street Commissioner. If A letter was received from Mr. Alex Vetter, Chairman of the !'Mayor' s Bond Issue Advisory Committee" , advising that they recommend `that the services of Mr. N. R. Beagle, as expeditor, be discontinued; {as of March 1, 1959 . The report was approved and the request granted. { 'I The resignation of Mr. H. E. Slusher, as a member of the ;City Library Board was received. 11 I� The resignation was accepted. if j)II Appointment of Mr. John B. Sturm of 510 Bolivar Street as a ;member of the Planning and Zoning Commission, for a term extending ;through May, 1961, to complete the term of Mr. Alex Vetter, resigned as received from Mayor Ellis. The appointment was approved. The following communication was received from Mayor Ellis. "In compliance with Ordinance No. 6692, establishing a ;Parking and Traffic Commission, I submitthe following appointments: As the Councilman Member, Dave Jobe As the three resident freeholder members, for terms beginning!; January 1, 1959, j for 1 year, Leon W. Corder, 302 Swifts Highway for 2 years, 0. Lee Munger, 142 N. Boonville Road i for 3 years, James F. McHenry, 1425 Greenberry Road Subject to your approval. r ' I designate as Chairman, James F. The appointments of the Commission, Chairman and Vice 1 !Chairman were approved. s± Bids on furnishing 24 uniforms for the Jefferson City Fire ;Department were received from the following, firms. National Tailoring Company, Chicago, Illinois ij Gelhaar Uniform Company, Kansas City, Mo. E. V. Price and Co. , Chicago, Illinois Jack Eveler, Jefferson City, Missouri The bids were referred to the Finance Committee and Fire #� Chief with power to act. On motion of Mr. Ralph Jobe, the drainage condition on Mississippi Street was referred to the Street Committee. Mr. Leonard Leubbert asked the Council for permission to use j '!a city owned lot on Johnson Street next to where he is building. he lot to be used for a garden in return for keeping the weeds 'down, etc. 4 The matter was referred to the Street Committee. 3 The bills which were approved by the Accounts and Claims i.Committee were ordered paid. f The matter of issuing a liquor license to Mr. John Henry, fat 501 Clark Avenue upon payment for 5 months instead of the usual j 6 month period was referred to the Finance Committee. City Attorney Rose stated that Mr. Smith, of the State Board ''of Health, would like to have a meeting with the Council to discuss 'sewer situations. The matter was referred to the Committee of the Whole. 4 f r38 Regular jMr. Dorr reported that the Street Committee recommends that iii BBinder Drive be improved. The report was approved. :i Mr. Scrivner reported that the Police Chief would like for the City Attorney to draw an ordinance requiring vehicles, coming 'from. either direction, to come to a complete stop when approaching la school bus which is loading or unloading passengers. The City Attorney was requested to draw the ordinance. �I !' The Fire Chief filed his annual report for 1958, in which he' ecommended the purchase of 1,000 feet of 2� inch fire hose and (suggested that 500 feet be purchased this year and 500 feet be urchased in 1961. Also recommended the purchase of a new Fire ecord Book. i On motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. R. Jobe, the !City Clerk and Fire Chief, were instructed to advertise for bids on 1 500 feet of hose and a record book. i Mr. Condit, Chairman of the Board of Fire Wardens, stated e would like for all councilmen. to look over the report of the i ire Department. i, The following report was received from the Police Board. In regard to a request for signs to slow down traffic near �Schmutz' s Trailer Court for the protection of children, the Committee has instructed the Police Department to notify parents if to keep their children from playing in the street. The Police Department has been instructed to see that the zone is properly marked as a 30 mile per hour zone and to make ' ,!every effort to enforce the ordinance. The report was approved. Resolution No. 78 f� Resolution No. 78 providing for the improvement of the !' loadway of Binder Drive between the curb lines, from the center of ,the intersection of Binder Drive and Livingston Street, to the enter of the intersection of Binder Drive and Marilyn Street.
