Bids on the improvement of sewers in Sewer District � No. 97 "A" were received as follows: E. P. Barnett $16,249. 10 1 Roy A. Scheperle 170675.80 Sterling Excavating Co. �I (W. A. Ott) 17,447.40 The bid of E. P. Barnett was accepted. ri i' A petition was received for a street light to be placed �± at the end of Bel-Air Drive, ,just north of Willow Drive. The matter was referred to the Water and Light Committee. 3 The following report was received from the Street t Committee. "Drainage condition at Justice Street and Houchin Street, f , this matter has been taken care of. L Drainage problem at 500 Bolivar, this is not a City problem, it should be a National Guard Problem. l The matter of enlarging pipe at 800 block Monroe, this is �' ,not a City problem, property owners have decreased the size of pipe !on their property. The matter of Judy Loesch, 100 block Dunklin Street, ,drainage which causes the trouble comes from Evangelical Church !property and others. Drainage condition at Community Center on Dunklin Street, recommend that City Engineer get bids to clean out creek. Hough Park and Isom Drive, we recommend that Mr. Curtis j! 1widen ditch. Complaint on Boonville Road by Mrs. Tony Dulle, recommend '! ' that City Engineer have driveway smoothed up and graveled and !sidewalk be constructed from steps on Dulle property to curb. Grading of Johnson Street. We recommend that Curtis grade; ,and gravel to Park property. Sewer problem at 1109 Jefferson, at Julius Richter' s. 'Committee recommends that City pay half of bill, because City ;{sewer main was broken." � The report was approved. ! The following report was received from the Police Board. The Committee recommends that a space be alloted for a drive-in type of mailbox on the South side of High Street, just I West of Washington. ' The report was approved. �4 The following report was received from the Finance a' Committee. ;C (1) A letter was received from the Junior Chamber of �! +Commerce in regard to making any contributions the Council feels + advisable toward this past years Jaycee Cole County Fair. Finance Committee recommends we reimburse the Jaycee' s for their license they paid for the fair. (2) A request was received from Fire Chief John Sullivan 18uggesting two proposals. << i (a) That the City Council purchase dress uniforms for the ' firemen. (b) Allow each fireman to purchase all his firefighting 11 Regular Meeting, December 15 1958 clothing and uniforms as prescribed by Fire Wardens in consideration of $15.00 per month per firemens cloting allowance. Finance Committee recommends we advertise for bids for purchasing uniforms for the Fire Department. (3) Mr. Isaac, 2202 Marilyn spoke to the Council in regard to his sewer which does not have enough fall from the house to the main sewer and the expense he had incurred because of same. Finance .Committee recommends we take no action. (4) Finance Committee recommends we raise Orville Roark' s salary to $300.00 per month. The report was approved. i f The following report was received from the Planning and Zoning Commission. The Commission recommends to the City Council that both sides of Clark Avenue be rezoned from District B to District E between :Elm Street and Dunklin Street. The District E on the east side of Clark Avenue to extend in depth to Benton Street and the portion on 'the west side of Clark Avenue to extend in depth to the alley west of Clark Avenue. The report was approved. The following construction report was received from the City :Engineer. "Construction of Castle Drive, from the north curb line of ,Hall Street, north 227 feet. The work was done by E. P. Barnett at a cost of $3145.55." The report was approved. On motion of Mr. Jordan, seconded by Mrs. Fisher the resolution for paving the roadway of Binder Drive between the curb lines, from . the center of the intersection of Binder Drive and north curb line of Marilyn Street, to the center of the intersection of Binder Drive and the south curb line of Livingston Street was tabled. The following resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that the work of constructing Castle Drive, from north curb line of Hall Street north 227 feet be and is hereby approved as the Council finds that said work was done according to plans and specifications." The following resolution was adopted. "Be it resolved, by the City Council of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, that E. P. Barnett, be awarded the Contract for the Construction of sewers in Sewer District No. 97 "A" , the said E. P. Barnett having the lowest and best Bid." 6686/ The following ordinance was introduced. "An Ordinance repealing Ordinance Number 6637 an enacting in lieu thereof An Ordinance establishing Sewer District No. 97 "A" , -swithin the City of Jefferson, Missouri, and defining the boundaries thereof." Read lot time at length, 2nd time by title and on motion of Mr. Willcoxon, seconded by Mr. Dorr, the rules were suspended and the ordinance was read the 3rd time by title and placed on final passage and was pppsed by the following vote. "An ordinance levying and assessing a special tax bill against the lots or tracks of land fronting or abutting on the roadway of Castle Drive, from the north curb line of Hall Street, north 227 feet in the City of Jefferson, Missouri, for the improvement of the said roadway by grading, curbing and guttering and paving with .a.Frw Regular Meetin Tiecember 15 1958 �portland cement concrete." I "An ordinance, of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, vacating ;i land discontinuing as a part of the public thoroughfare a part of 1St. Paul Street, and authorizing and directing the Mayor of the ; City of Jefferson, Missouri, to execute all necessary instruments A to the owners of the adjacent lots to and for said portion of said 1? ; street so vacated, as the parties entitled thereto, as shown by thel record title to said adjacent and abutting property and declaring +1a reverter to the respective owners of said real estate."
