The motion I�passed. ----------- A communication was received from the Superior Supply Company, :License asking cancellation of their license and a refund of $75.50, since .Refund. they closed their store on January 15th. �IMr. Riner moved that the Superior Supply Company be refunded five- sixths of their license fee. The motion passed. dry cleaning Bill No. 117, introduced by Councilmen Kliegel and Hogg, entitled: establishment."An Ordinance of the City of Jefferson, Missouri, amending Ordinanc6 No. 5880 of the City by repealing subparagraph 4 of Section 1002 of Article X, authorizing the use of a building or permises in an "E" Local Commercial District for receiving stores for dry or steam cleaning which cleaning shall be done elsewhere and enacting a new subparagraph to be known as subparagraph 4 of Section 1002 of Article X of Ordinance No. 5880, authorizing the use of a building or per- mises in an "E" Local Commercial District to be used, among other things , for dry cleaning and pressing establishments, employing less than five (5) persons and using non-flammable cleaning solvents ." . The Motion passed. Sewewage Project . ---------- Fire Dept . The following report of the Fire Department Committee was submitted' Committee by Mr. Hogg Report. "The Fire Department Committee met February 14, 1964 at 7:00 P.M. Those present were as follows: Debo, Hawes and Hogg. The purpose was to discuss about additional breathing gear for the Fire Departmen An application was made through the State Civil Defense for matching funds to purchase Scott air packs and air tanks to supplement the six masks and 12 tanks now on hand. The Civil Defense has granted of $1,470.00 toward the purchase of this equipment . Motion made b� Perry Hawes, and seconded by Bob Debo that we accept the Civil Defense grant and the balance be paid from the Contingent Fund. Meeting adjourned at 7: 20 P.M." On motion of Mr. Hogg, the report was adopted. The motion passed. Parking and The following report of the Parking and Traffic Commmission was sub- Traffic mitted by Mr. Cline: Commission . "Meeting of the Parking and Traffic Commission was held on Saturday, February 15, 1964, at 10: 30 a.m. , in the Council Chambers . Those present were: Mr. Bob Debo, Mr. Perry Hawes, Lieutenant Lawrence Patton and Donald V. Cline. The following requests and recommend- ations were made: 444 !I 1. Mr. Coleman of Coleman' s Appliances, 615 Jefferson Street, �+ appeared before the Commission and requested that a loading zone J be established in front of 615 Jefferson Street, inasmuch as it is !! impossible to load appliances from the rear of from the side. After j� this hearing the Commission recommended a loading zone be established j in front of 615 Jefferson Street , which is consistent with the exist- j; ing loading zone ordinances. itMr. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 1. The motion passed. 2. Mr. Joe noonan of the Noonan Insurance Company, 202 E. McCarty ' Street appeared before the Commission and requested that some relief be given him concerning the parking in front of his place of business , and that of Mr. Sid Pohlman, 207 E. McCarty Street. Situation is that on the south side of East McCarty there is no restriction on parking, thus, there is no turnover. Mr. Pohlman is faced with a ! different problem, but, he also requested some relief be given and suggested parking meters be erected, at least in front of their Ibusiness so that they can realize some benefit . This particular item ; was taken under advisement . i! 3. It was the request of Mr. Ralph Hammond that there be parking !i restrictions on the East side of Monroe South of the Expressway, 1; CO be extended to eliminate what he considers a hazard. This item was also taken under advisement as was another matter concerning Dunklin Street which we believe will be taken care of by the widening of ! Dunklin Street in the Urban Renewal Project. 4. Mr. Floyd Nichols, Manager of the Jefferson City Bus Lines appeared before the Commission and requested that bus zone be �) established on Lafayette Street near the new Senior High School. On I the recommendation of the Traffic Division of the Police Department, the Commission approved the location in the mention as submitted for such a zone. Mr. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 4. The motion passed. 5. The Commission also approved a cross walk request by the Traffic Division of the Police Department- at the new Senior High School. ii Mr. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 5. The motion passed. 6. Mr. Perry Hawes, 5th Ward Councilman , presented a letter from j Lincoln University requesting a school cross walk and and 20 M. P.H. zone be established on Chestnut Street for Lincoln University students . It was brought to our attention that a recent accident in which two (2) young women were injured, demands such control. From the 800 block of Fairmount to Dunklin Street . The Commission Approves same on the recommendation of Mr. Hawes . Mx. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 6 . The motion passed. 111 7 . At the request of Mr. Hawes, the Conunissbn approves the 1 amendment of a bill now pending in reference to No Parking on the north side of Russell Street . It is recommended that parking be allowed on the north side . Mr. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 7 . The Motion passed. 8. In support of Item #3, Mr. Hawes and Lieutenant Patton surveyed the south side of 300 Dunklin Street at Adams and found that a traffic !hazard does exist and recommends that parking be eliminated an ;;additional twenty (20) feet from the curb line . 1 Mr. Cline moved the approval of Item No. 8 . The motion passed. On motion of Mr. Cline, the report was adopted. Dawson , President of Lincoln ;' University, to waive the 25' (twenty-five foot) restriction for their proposed new structure on Chestnut Street -- It is the opinion lof this Commission to be in accord with Lincoln University Officials, 44.5 " however since there is no desire or request for rezoning, City " Attorney Thomas Rose advises that this Commission is not empowered to render the final decision , and that it would become a matter for ; the Appeals Board to decide after a request for a building permit is denied by the Building Inspector' s Office."
