GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL
SPECIAL SESSION
MONDAY, MARCH 17, 1997 7:30 P.M. GREENCASTLE HIGH SCHOOL
The Greencastle Common Council met in Special Session Monday, March 17, 1997, 7:30 p.m. at
the Greencastle High School Library. Mayor Michael called the meeting to order. On the Roll
Call, the following were found to be present: Councilor Roach, Councilor Hammer, Councilor
Green, Councilor Baynard and Councilor Masten.
Mayor Michael read, b title only, Resolution 1997 -6, A Resolution Reaffirming Resolution
1997 -5 and Declaring An Economic Revitalization Area and Recommended Tax Deduction.
Motion to adopt Resolution 1997 -6 made by Councilor Hammer, seconded by Councilor Roach.
Vote was unanimous.
Mayor Michael read, by title oni , Resolution 1997 -11, A Resolution Declaring An Economic
Revitalization Area (Heartland Automotive). Mayor Michael stated that this Resolution does not
include retooling. Councilor Masten thanked Heartland officials for the information they have
exchaneed with the Council and made the Motion to adopt Resolution 1997 -11. Motion was
seconded by Councilor Green, vote was unanimous. There will be a Public Hearing on April 8th
at Tzouanakis Intermediate School, 7:00 p.m. for Resolution 1997 -12.
Mayor Michael reported that the new Water Superintendent, Terry Dale from Kansas, will be
starting on March 31, 1997. Mayor Michael asked the Council for consensus to allow Leon
Phillips and Mr. Dale to work together for four weeks. There is enough money in the budget to
cover salaries for both for a four week period. Councilor Hammer made the motion to allow for
pay to overlap, seconded by Councilor Baynard. Vote was unanimous. Mayor Michael also told
the Council that Kathleen Staton has accepted the Park Director position.
Being no further business Councilor Roach made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Councilor
Hammer. Vote was unanimous.
