GREENCASTLE COMMON COUNCIL
EXECUTIVE SESSION
WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 1997 6:30 P.M. GREENCASTLE PARTNERSHIP

The Greencastle Common Council met in Executive Session Wednesday, May 7, 1997, 6:30
p.m. at the Greencastle Partnership Center. Mayor Michael called the meeting to order. On the
Roll Call, the following were found to be present: Councilor Roach, Councilor Hammer,
Councilor Green, Councilor Baynard and Councilor Masten. Also present from HAPPICO:
President Sasaki, Suzuki, Lon Boyers and Mike Burns.
Bill Dory gave a brief introduction regarding HAPPICO's expansion. President Sasaki read a
letter requesting a five (5) year tax abatement on equipment of approximately S4 million. Lon
Boyers gave a brief overview of the placement of the new building. Mr. Boyers explained that
there will be access off Capital Drive. The equipment will include one automated line
approximately 300 -350 feet long. Mike Burns stated that because of timing the abatement is
being requested only for equipment and not on the facility. Questions regarding the design of
Capital Drive and whether it will be able to handle truck traffic were discussed. The road is
being designed to handle truck traffic so this is not a problem. HAPPICO representatives exit
the meeting.
Councilor Roach stated that he has no problem with granting tax abatement for equipment only.
The Citv will incur no cost.
Being no further business, a motion to adjourn made by Councilor Roach, seconded by
Councilor Masten. Vote was unanimous.
