this information is our pending city water withdrawal limitations and the impacts of short-term rentals on water usage. Would
you help us by providing us with the following information:
Does Myrtle Beach charge short-term rental properties a different rate for water and sewer? F-
Are short-term rentals classified in the community's rate structure a commercial or residential?'
Does the community have a different rate for water and sewer usage than the residential rate?
Are short-term rentals addressed in the community's zoning code? II__,

to them In this section, except where the context clearly indicates a different meaning
Short-term rental means the use of any dwelling, including the lot upon which the dwelling is lora<atad,
anywhere within the City whereby the dwelling is leased o- otherwise made available by the owner to
another person for a term of three (3) months or less. Any reference in this article to dwelling, residence
oriental shall mean a short-term redia;

a. The maximum overnight occupancy o` an existing residence for which the owner is holding a vapor
short -terra rental Ccense on June 22. 2010, shall be limited to the greater of.

(1) It the maximum overnight occupancy of the residence prior to alteration or reconstruction was
less then twelve (12) people, then the maximum overnight occupancy of the altered or
reconst, noted residence may be increased to the number of people prescribed in
(a) Section b -4-202(a) or twelve (12) people, whichever is fewer, if the owner was holding a
valid short-term rental license on June 22, 2010.
(b) Section 5-4-202(b) or twelve (12) people, whichever is fewer, if the owner was not holding
a valid short-term rental license on .June 22, 2010
(2) if the maximum overnight occupancy of the residence prior to alteration or reconstruction was

The City Manager asked me to help you out with your questions on resort rentals, as we process them through our
department. See below:
Does the community have a different rate for water and sewer usage than the residential rate? Yes, there are
commercial rates.
Are shore -term rentals addressed in the community's zoning code?
Yes, we only allow them in R-3, Nigh Density Residential, zoning. If they existed prior to 2000 in either the R-1 or
R-2 zoning districts. then they are grandfathered, but only if they have kept their resort rental permits active.
