AUTHORIZING AN INTERLOCAL SHARED SERVICES AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE BOROUGH OE CARTERET AND THE VARIOUS INDEPENDENT BOROUGH
AGENCIES AND ENTITIES
WHEREAS, the New Jersey Interlocal Services Act, N.J.S.A. 40:8A-1 or seq., encourages
municipalities and other local government authorities, agencies and boards to enter into
agreements for the joint, shared provision of services in order to effectuate economies in
government costs to reduce property taxes and provides legal authority mid procedures to
effectuate such agreements; and _
WHEREAS, the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough"), the Carteret Port Authority ("CPA"), the
Carteret Redevelopment Agency ("CARA"), the Carteret Housing Authority ("CHA"), the
Carteret Housing And Development Agency ("CHADCO"), the Carteret Public Library ("CPU'),
the Carteret Performing Arts Center ("CPAC") and the Central Jersey Arts Council ("CJAC" )
are desirous of entering into such an Interlocal Shared Services Agreement ( "Agreement")
providing for the said entities to engage in the joint and several sharing and provision of their
respective services, equipment and fiscal resources between and amongst one another to the
fullest extent practicable; and
WHEREAS, this Agreement will effectuate economies and efficiencies in the provision of the
various governmental and public services said entities perform by coordinating where desirable
the performance and provision of their respective responsibilities and services; and
WHEREAS, in accord with N.J.§.A. 40:8A-4, said proposed Agreement is available and open to
public inspection at the Office of the Carteret Municipal Clerk, Carteret Municipal Building, 61
Cooke Avenue, Carteret, New Jersey, between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council of the Borough of
Carteret as follows:
1. That tine Borough's Law Director is hereby authorized and directed to coordinate
and execute the proposed Interlocal Shared Services Agreement with the above
referenced local agencies and entities to effectuate the sharing of services,
equipment and fiscal resources intended for herein, all in a form acceptable to the
Law Director.
2. That the appropriate Borough Officials and/or Officers and Employees are
hereby authorized and directed to take such needed action(s) to effectuate the
purposes provided for herein and as provided for in said Interlocal Agreement.
