HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - 1/4/2016 The Wellsburg City Council met in regular session January 4, 2016 with Mayor Nederhoff presiding and all Council Members present. This meeting was the organizational meeting for 2016 as such, the following committee appointments were made: Building and Finance, Steve Hippen and Josh Meyer; Police and Fire, Dale Eilderts and Lance Van Heiden; Streets and Alleys, Lance Van Heiden and Calvin Werkman; Parks and Pool, Josh Meyer and Calvin Werkman; Garbage and Landfill, Dale Eilderts and Steve Hippen; and Water and Waste Water, full council. Other Appointments as follows: Mayor Pro Tem, Lance Van Heiden; City Clerk, Wendy Lage; City Attorney, Seth Schroeder; Fire Chief, Greg Winger; and Official Publication, Grundy Register. Mayor Camie Nederhoff, and Council Members Lance Van Heiden and Steve Hippen were sworn in in December 2015. Meyer moved to approve the minutes of the December regular meeting. Eilderts seconded the motion. All ayes, carried. Van Heiden moved to approve the Treasurer’s Report for December. Eilderts seconded the motion. All ayes, carried. Nathan Vogel presented the public works report. Greg Winger, Dave Riekena and Chase Babcock presented the Fire Department report. Werkman moved to approve the following Fire Department Officers: Greg Winger, Chief: Chase Babcock, Assistant Chief; Brent Schipper and Kendall Abbas, Captains; Tyler Duhn and Grant Decker Lieutenants; Derek Richtsmeier and Mike Haupt, Maintenance; Kenny Abbas & April Haupt, EMS; Dave Riekena, Secretary and Dailene Abbas, Treasurer. Hippen seconded the motion. All ayes, carried Wendy Lage presented the Clerk’s report. Eilderts moved to approve wage increase for Brandon Kistner, Memorial Building Custodian. His new wage will be set at $9.00 per hour and goes into effect immediately. Hippen seconded the motion. All ayes, carried The Mayor presented information on the Integrated Plan. We have received recommendations from Eric Wikland and will make the necessary corrections and resubmit. Don Moore, Ryken Engineer, discussed continuing issues with infiltration. Council discussed the need for a new public works facility. Plans are to move forward with construction this spring. Van Heiden moved to approve FY 2017 pay raises as follows: Randy Hippen $.75 per hour; Nathan Vogel and Wendy Lage 3% wage increase. Wendy Lage will receive a $500.00 bonus for work completed on the Memorial Building Project. Eilderts seconded the motion. All ayes, carried. Meyer moved to adjourn the meeting.
