SUMMARY STATEMENT:
Pursuant to McCall City Code (Title 3, Chapter 20), the McCall Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) consists of five (5) members and is responsible for recommending methods necessary
to preserve, maintain and restore historic properties, recommends nominations of properties to the National Register of Historic Places, and conducts educational and interpretive programs.
All members of the HPC “shall have a demonstrated interest, competence or knowledge in history or historic preservation. The Mayor and Council shall endeavor to appoint members with
due regard to the proper representation of such fields as history, architecture, urban planning, archaeology and law.”
HPC member Walt Sledzieski’s term expires in 2022 and he has chosen to vacate his position. A request for letters of interest in serving on the HPC was advertised in the Star News and
on social media for several weeks, resulting in one submitted letter of interest received to date. At its February 14, 2022 meeting, the Historic Preservation Commission voted unanimously
to recommend appointment of Samantha Westendorf to the McCall Historic Preservation Commission.
Copies of Samantha Westendorf’s letter of interest and resume are attached.
RECOMMENDED ACTION:
Appoint Samantha Westendorf to a three (3) year term on the McCall Historic Preservation Commission expiring February 2025.
