Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga.
April lst, 1946.
A special meeting of the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, was held at the Town Hall, Savannah Beach, on
Monday, April 1st, 1946, at 6 :30 o'clock PM. Present, Mayor Edward
A. Dutton,. presiding, Councilmen Slotin, Lovell, Host', Young and
Farrell, and Town Attorney Alexander, who also acted as Clerk of
Council in the absence of Clerk. of Council Buckley.
The Mayor called the meeting to order and advised Council
that the absence of Clerk of Council Buckley was due to the fact
that -his mother, Mrs. Mary P. Buckley, haal passed away the night
before. The following resolution was then read, and on motion of
Councilman Young, seconded by Councilman Biotin, was adopted.
A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah. Beach, Tybee
Island, have learned with sorrow of the death of Mrs. Mary P. Buckley,
the Mother of the Clerk of Council, Henry M. Buckley, which took
place on the evening of March 31st, 1946;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, that the heart-
felt sympathy of the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, • Tybee
Island, both collectively and individually, be extended to the
Clerk of Council, Henry M. Buckley, on his great loss.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this resolution
be delivered to Mr. Buckley, and a copy spread on the minutes of
this meeting.
The Mayor then read the certificate signed by Laura M.
Moore, Ben J. Alexander. and Anton F. Solms, Jr., Managers of the
election which was held on thid date, advising Council of the number
of votes cast for each candidate in said election, as follows;
We, the undersigned, who were duly appointed as Managers
of the election for Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah
Beach, by resolution adopted by Council at a meeting, held on
March 7th, 1946, and who have conducted said election held on April
lst, 1946, in accordance with the provisions of the Charter of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and the laws of the State of Georgia
applicable thereto, do hereby certify that said election was held
on April lst, 1946, in accordance with the law, and that the follow-
ing candidates received the number of votes set forth opposite their
names for said offices, in said election;-
For Mayor
Edward A. Dutton
300 Votes
For Councilmen who are residents and
domiciled in Chatham County, outside
the corporate limits of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and own
property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island.

For Councilmen who are bona fide
residents and domiciled within the

We therefore certify that Edward A. Dutton has received the
highest number of votes cast for any candidate for Mayor of said
Town; that William Se Lovell, John A. Peters and Morris Slotin
have received the highest number of votes oast for any candidate for
the office of Councilmen of said Town who are bona fide residents
and domiciled in Chatham County, outside the corporate limits of the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and own property at Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island,; and that Joel T. Farrell, Benno P. Hosti and
Mitchell R. Young have received the highest number of votes:cast
for any candidates for the office of Councilmen of said Town who are
bona fide residents and domiciled within the corporate limits of the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island.

The following resolution was then read, and on motion
made by Councilman Young, seconded by Councilman Hosti, was unan-
imously adopted.
RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, the managers duly named by Resolution passed
by the Mayor and Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee
Island, Georgia, in Council assembled, on the 7th day of March,
1946, to conduct the election just concluded and held on thid the
let day of April, 1946, at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island., for the
purpose of electing a Mayor and six (6) Councilmen, three (3) of
whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciles within the

corporate limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
and three (3) of whom shall be bona fide residents and domiciled
in Chatham County, outside the Corporate limits of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, and who shall own property at Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, to hold office until the first Monday in May
194g, or until their etooessors have been duly elected and qualified,
have made the consolidated returns and /or results to the Mayor and
Councilmen calling said election, which consolidations was done in
the presence of and together with the several managers; and
WHEREAS, it appears that Edward A. Dutton received the
highest number of votes for Mayor of the Town of Savannah Beach,?.
Tybee Island; and
WHEREAS, Joel T. Farrell, Mitchell R. Young and Benno P.
Hosti received the highest number of votes for Councilmen of the
Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who drelbona fide residents
and domiciled within the corporate limits of the Town of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, and William S. Lovell, John A. Peters and
Morris Slotin received the highest number of votes for Councilmen
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, who are bona fide
residents and domiciled.in Chatham County, outside the corporate
limits of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee /eland, and who own
property at Savannah Beach, Tybee Island;
NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen
of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled,
and it is hereby resolved by the authority of the same that the
result of said election be and the same is hereby declared as
electing:

William S. Lovell
John A. Peters
Morris Slotin
Joel T. Farrell
Benno P. Hosts
Mitchell R. Young
for the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island,
the first Monday in May, 1945, or until their

A RESOLUTION
WHEREAS, om March 19th, the Honorable Charles Vincent
Walsh, a member and Vioe-ohairman of Council of the Town of
Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, passed away, thereby creating a
vacancy on said Council, and a vacancy in the office of Vice -
chairman of Council;
'AND, WHEREAS, at a. special meeting of the Mayor and
Councilmen of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, held on
April let,,1946, the unanimous vote of the members of Council
was oast for the Honorable John A. Peters, to fill the vacancy
as a member of Council, said John A. Peters being a bona fide
resident of Chatham Councy, Georgia, and being the owner of a
lot or parcel of land within the corporate limits os said Town;
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen
of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled, that'said
John A. Peters be, and he is hereby, declared duly elected to
fill the vacancy as a member of Council created by the death of
Charles Vincent Walsh, to fill the unexpired term of said
Charles Vincent Walsh, whioh expires on April 30th, 1946.
Mr. John A. Peters, being present, was then administered
the oath of office by Town Attorney Alexander, and took his seat
as a member of Council.

I, John A. Peters, do solemnly swear rhat I will faith-
fully and honestly perform the duties of Councilman of Savannah
Beach, Tybee Island, to the best of my skill and ability, with
out favor or affection, so help me God.

On motion of Councilman Biotin, seconded by Councilman
peters, it was decided to hold the regular meeting on April 4th,
1946, at 4;00 o'clock PM instead of 5 ;00 o'clock PM.
There being -no further business the meeting was adjourned
subject to the call of the Mayor.
