APPROVAL OF MINUTES (Agenda Item 3):
Freda Rutherford made motion to accept minutes, motion carried.
Our State Representatives set up a meeting with Govemor Deal. Buddy Carter and Ben Watson
attended the meeting along with Jason Bucl-terman, Berta Adams and Amy Lanier. Jason gave a history
of the re -nourishment at Tybee and Governor Deal was aware of the situation. Re is looking at
resources for sand for the re -nourishment as well as solutions. It was explained to the governor that at
some point in the future money would need to be put in the budget for a long term program for
maintaining the beach. The governor will have his policy division work on options. Berta and her team
wilt follow up to insure there are no questions. Lou asked if they discussed the harbor deepening and
GPA, S lie stated that they didn ' t want to create an atm osphere of c ont ention so therefore it was not
discussed. Amy added that our funding for future re -nourishment is dwindling. Their intention for the
meeting with the governor is to make this a state responsibility for re -nourishment not GIIA's
responsibility. The state in turn can make it a federal funding issue, The governor seemed to be on
board with assisting Tybee in their re -nourished. Lou asked if Berta felt we needed to revisit the city
council involvement. The consensus is that it probably would not do any harm. We need to insure that
our representatives continue to support Tybee and the re -nourishment as this will be our best strength.
Berta did send a thank you note to our each of our representati ves for coordinating the meeting.
City Hall Special Meeting and Response
Erik Olsen gave a presentation at a Special Meeting of the City Council on January 27, 2011. At this
meeting the council discussed whether to accept or reject the dredge spoils. Freda was pleased that the
council did not say yes with caveats as she felt the COE would not adhere to those concerns. After

Paul Wolff stated he had a conversation with Brad Gane, DNR., regarding their response to the COE.
Their response was in coqjunction with Tybee's opposing the disposition of dredge materials. The I)
objected to new materials as there is no model. Paul also thanked Joe Richardson for his presentation
the city council meeting regarding the impact the dredge materials would have on the turtle nesting.
Amy read a letter from Mayor Buelterman that will be sent to our congressmen and representatives
outlining the reasoning behind 'ecting the dredge materials. She will also email that letter to the BT
