CALL TO ORDER: (Agenda Item 1):
Amy Lanier called the meeting to order at 11:45AM.

APPROVAL OF DECEMBER MINUTES
No quorum
Officer Elections to be continued until February 16, 2012.
Ms. Lanier read an update from Mayor Buelterman. He stated that he will going to Atlanta to
meet with Governor Deal on January 26, 2012 as well as Colonel Hall on February 2, 2012 COE
to discuss beach re-nourishment. He is also planning a meeting with Jack Kingston in April.
John Wylly gave a short update on the meeting with Karyn Erickson and her visit to Tybee
Island. Ms. Erickson looked at different locations for t-groins on the Island especially at 2nd
Street. Freda Rutherford stated that in the discussions was the design of Tybee Island’s beach
re-nourishment and our need to evaluation the technique. Mr. Ferrell asked Ms. Schleicher
when the last beach profile was done. She stated last year as they are done on a yearly basis.
Ms. Doyle was very impressed with Ms. Erickson and her flexibility to work with Erik Olsen. She
then asked Ms. Lanier to contact Mr. Olsen for not only an opinion but documentation for the
overfill approach on the beach. Ms. Schleicher suggested that Ms. Lanier have a conference call
with Mr. Olsen to discuss all issues. Mr. Ferrell then stated that he will write a short thank you
note to Ms. Erickson and ask her for a summary and/or recommendations for Tybee Island.
NEW BUSINESS
Diane Schleicher suggested we contact the State regarding a special license plate to
support beach re-nourishment. Ms. Lanier to follow-up.
Frieda Rutherford has finished reviewing the Beach Management Plan and will submit
her changes to Diane Schleicher and Jan LeViner.
