Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners • Sewer rates are rising too quickly for young families and the elderly. I will have to move in with my daughter as I can't afford the rising costs. This isane how retirement is supposed to be. Shame on the poor management that couldn't foresee the future problems to arise and are now charging outrageous rates. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - I challenge the board of trustees if they really do know how the district spends all it income . This is not to blame them but in no way they can put the time needed to run the district for the $25 they receive in compensation . Staff loves to spend money as it is no secret that the district is run by the engineers and contractors in Missouri . As we look to combine city and county and to fix the airport and the city schools it is important that we look at the governing body of MSD it became a sucking monster out of control with increases and unnecessary projects and spending . Leta€TM"s look at how many engineers the district grew to have and still spending millions a year on outside engineering services . Let prioritize by fixing the governing structure before any more increases Thank for the time you put in this review and please consider the no vote you received last time this increase was on the ballet Sincerely, Don Eizember 3036 west milton St. Louis, MO 63114 Attn: Leonard Toenjes, Chair Russell Hawes, Vice -Chair Mark Schoedel, Secretary Gerald Beckman Don Bresnan Paul Brockman Brandy Bowdry Mickey Croyle Brad Goss Chan Mahanta Steve Mahfood Lloyd Palans Tom Ratzki John L. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - Sewer rates in St. Louis have already increased by over 60% since 2016, and you are proposing raising rates again. I understand some of the reasoning for needing more money because of the flooding and erosion issues going on in the St. Louis area, but am concerned that people already struggling making ends meet cannot take on any more increases. I implore MSD to redress this issue and come up with a more equitable solution. Who has oversight over all of your spending? What is being done with all of this excess money collected? Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - Please do not raise the rates further, my payment was around 30$ in 2010, and is now over 70$. I know that rate must increase occasionally but it has more than doubled in just a few years. This is a bill I cannot influence, no consevation of water, or less toilet flushing will reduce it. But is required to pay every month. If the rates go much higher I fear the city will end up with even more vacant property, causing the rates to go up more, starting a spiral of destruction. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - I was wondering why I pay the same rate as others when I don't have a storm sewer in my neighborhood! And now you're talking about raising them again. How about you deliver the products that I have been paying for all these years before another increase. I don't live in a rural area. I live in between Olivette and Ladue. Kind of odd we don't have a storm sewer anywhere on our street! Not a single one! How come I don't get credited for that? Sincerely, Michael OKeefe 3 N. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners As a retired union member, I am now on a limited fixed income. Therefore, I get no cost of living increases. As utilities, like MSD, increase their rates ( and probably profits) I fall behind and have to make choices like do I pay MSD, or get my necessary medications or food. Please be responsible, don't approve another unnecessary rate hike for MSD. Thanks! Sincerely, Michael McDermott 16 N. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - Sewer rates in the St. Louis area have increased by over 65% since 2016 and more than doubled since 2010. MSD is proposing to raise rates again with a double-digit increase. These significant increases impact all consumers but hurt most low-income ratepayers and those on fixed incomes. Sincerely, Mr./Mrs. Terry Cadwallader 11587 Joslyn Ct Saint Louis, MO 63138 Attn: Leonard Toenjes, Chair Russell Hawes, Vice -Chair Mark Schoedel, Secretary Gerald Beckman Don Bresnan Paul Brockman Brandy Bowdry Mickey Croyle Brad Goss Chan Mahanta Steve Mahfood Lloyd Palans Tom Ratzki John L. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - As a retired teacher on a fixed income, i implore you to keep rates where they are currently. The increases over the past few years have been substantial and have affected our budget. Currently our MSD bill is the second highest utility bill we pay. This is ridiculous for a family of 2 people that produces little waste. Sincerely, Robert Good 6439 Lloyd Ave St. Louis, MO 63139 Attn: Leonard Toenjes, Chair Russell Hawes, Vice -Chair Mark Schoedel, Secretary Gerald Beckman Don Bresnan Paul Brockman Brandy Bowdry Mickey Croyie Brad Goss Chan Mahanta Steve Mahfood Lloyd Palans Tom Ratzki John L. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - The rate increases for MSD have been quite large since 2010 (doubled, actually). It is not apparent that services provided by MSD have kept pace. While I'm sure the argument can be made regarding the need for infrastructure renewal and/or replacement, the rates of increase do not provide consideration for fixed or low-income households. Please reconsider the request for double-digit increases for all. Surely, a more equitable approach can be developed. Sincerely, Claudia Shugert 4106 Juniata Street St. Louis, MO 63116 Attn: Leonard Toenjes, Chair Russell Hawes, Vice -Chair Mark Schoedel, Secretary Gerald Beckman Don Bresnan Paul Brockman Brandy Bowdry Mickey Croyle Brad Goss Chan Mahanta Steve Mahfood Lloyd Palans Tom Ratzki John L. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - Thank you for your plan to increase rates - there are many projects that need to be completed, and since voters continually vote down tax increases to finance MSD improvements, rate increases are the only option left that doesn't unfairly burden future generations. Everyone who uses MSD should be asked to contribute to the cause, regardless of status. Thank you. Sincerely, Kynan Katzman 6079 Hartford St. Louis, MO 63139 Attn: Leonard Toenjes, Chair Russell Hawes, Vice -Chair Mark Schoedel, Secretary Gerald Beckman Don Bresnan Paul Brockman Brandy Bowdry Mickey Croyle Brad Goss Chan Mahanta Steve Mahfood Lloyd Palans Tom Ratzki John L. Stein Paul Ziegler Dear MSD Rate Commissioners - If consumers had a choice in sewer companies, then I wouldn't complain. But we're stuck with this - it's not like we can go without sewer service. This bill is a real hardship for me and for other people who are on moderate or fixed incomes. I am not going to have a double-digit salary increase this year, and MSD in no way needs yet another rate increase. what sort of oversight is there into the way that MSD is spending their money? I'm very interested in their executive pay structure and bonuses. Please deny this increase.
