Account # NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Mayor and Council -of the Borough of Carteret, County of Middlesex, State of New Jersey, as follows: 1. That the proposal from CME Associates for professional Engineering Services with regard to the Carteret Streetscape Obelisk Structural Analysis and Rotational Elements at a total cost not to exceed $8,900.00, billable in accordance with CMS's existing contract with the Borough, is hereby approved. 2. That this action is approved as an award of a professional services contract pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-5(l)(a) in accordance with the Borough's Fair and Open Process as authorized by law. . 3. We understand the Borough has engaged the County Vocational School District's welding program to design and fabricate steel obelisk sculptures which are proposed to be installed at the intersection of Washington Avenue and High Street. Our office has visited the School's welding shop to review their progress and has found the class has begun assembling a full-size prototype which they anticipate to have completed in June, with fabrication of the final structure by the end of 2023. With this being said, we anticipate the following scope of engineering services to supplement foundation design services previously authorized: Structural Analysis of Obelisk Protect This work will consist of an in-depth structural analysis of the proposed sculptures to provide professional qualification of the school's work and ensure structural adequacy and general safety. 1. Perform site visit to the school to inspect full size prototype and collect information for structural modeling and analysis. 2. Work with welding instructor and students to make recommendations on structural design revisions. 3. Review and certification of the sculpture design based on "The 2021 International Building Code, New Jersey Edition and ASCE 7-16, Minimum Design Loads and other Criteria for Buildings and other Structures." To achieve this, the project structural engineer's scope will include: 1. Coordination with mechanical engineers and fabricators to developed required motors; 2. Design development required connections to accommodate rotating motor; and, 3. Preparation of signed and sealed working drawings. We will provide the necessary engineering services as described above based upon the cost breakdown as noted below: A. Structural Analysis....... ....... $3,500.00 B. Exceptions ..... $8,900.00 Any work not specified as listed in the above phases, including electrical, mechanical, or geotechnical engineering services shall be considered additional services and will be invoiced at the time said work is authorized by the Borough. Should the scope of the project change requiring additional professional fees, we will detail same in writing and seek authorization prior to proceeding.
