BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED by the authority aforesaid, that all ordinances, and parts of ordinances, in con- flict herewith be, and the same are hereby repealed. There being no further business, Council adjourned sub- ject to the call of the Mayor. Clerk Counc 1. Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga. May 3lst, 1947. A special meetinf of Town Council was held today at 12 :00 Noon in the Town Hall and was attended by Mayor Dutton, who presided, and Councilmen Slotin, Peters, Young, Farrell and Lovell. The meeting was called for the following purposes: 1. To appoint managers for the election to be held on June.11th and also the election to be held on June 25th. 2. Consider the petition of Mr. Abro Robinson prohibit- ing parking on Center Street. 3. Advertise for bids to rebuild the Tilton Street groin. b3 4. Consider the petition of George W. Kent to erect two signs at his place of business on Butler Avenue. 5. Refer the purchase of tires to the Finance Committee. 6. Consider the petition of S. J. and M. S. Robertson for a refund of license. Councilman Slotin moved that the following Resolution be adopted, Councilman Peters seconded and the motion passed. A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, have called an election to be held on Wednesday, 84 June Ilth, 1947, by the qualified voters of said Municipality, in accordance with the provisions of Section 69 -101 et seq., of the Code of Georgia of 1933, to determine whether the amendments to the Charter of said Municipality contained in the Act of the General Assembly of Georgia approved March 22nd, 1947, shall be- come effective or not; AND, WHEREAS under the provisions of Section 5 of the At approved August 19th, 1922, granting a Charter to the Tdwn of Tybee, (Acts of 1922, pages 988 and 989) it is provided that all elections shall be supervised and managed by three (3) free hold- ers, all of whom must be duly qualified voters of said Town, and shall be named by the Mayor and Councilmen of said Town at least ten (10) days prior to the day of election; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled that the follow- ing named persons; Mrs. Laura Moore Mrs. Mary C. Jones A. F. Solms, Jr. Mrs. Edith U. Carter, as alternate all of whom are free holders and duly qualified voters of said Town be, and the same are hereby, named, the first three (3) above named as Managers and the fourth (4th) above named as Alter- nate Manager to supervise and manage said election. - - -- -- Those voting yes were Councilman Slotin, Lovell, Peters and Farrell, those voting no Councilman Young. Councilman Slotin moved that the following resolution be adopted, Councilman Peters seconded and the motion passed. A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on May 15th, 1947, the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah, Beach, Tybee Island, adopted a resolution calling an election to beheld in accordance with the provisions of the Con- ./ stithtion and saws of the State of Georgia, on Wednesday, June 25th,. to be held in said Municipality and participated in.by the qualified voters of said Municipality, for the purpose of approving or dis- approving the proposed issue of Ninety Thousand. Dollars ($90,000.00) in bonds if said Municipality, the proceeds to be used for paving, grading, hard surfacing and otherwise improving the streets and ways in said Municipality and for the purpose of acquiring property and rights of way in order to open streets and ways in said Mun icipality; AND, WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 5 of the Act approved August 19th, 1922, granting a Charter to the Town of Tybee (Acts of 1922, pages 988 and 989) it is provided that all elections shall be supervised and managed by three (3) free hol- ders, all of whom must be duly qualified voters of said Town, and shall be named by the Mayor and Councilmen of said Town at least ten (10) days prior to the day of election; 1 1 BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled that the follow- ing named persons; Mrs. Amy Dickey Mrs. Laura Moore Ben J. Alexander A. F. Solms, Jr., as alternate all of whom are free holders and duly qualified voters of said Town be, and the same are hereby named, the first three (3) above named as Managers and the fourth (4th) above named as Alternate Manager to supervise and manage said election. Mr. Abro Robinson, the owner of property on the south side of Center Street petitioned that vehicles be prohibited from using Center Street. Councilman Siotin moved that It be rejected, Councilman Young seconded and the motion passed. Thomas and Hutton submitted an estimate on the cost of repairing the Tilton Street groin amounting to $10,500.00. Council- man Siotin moved that the Town advertise for bids to rebuild Tilton Street groin, bids to be opened on the day of Council meeting, Councilman Young seconded and the motion passed. George W. Kent petitioned for permission to erect two signs on his property on Butler Avenue known as UThe Half Fryer ". Petition' granted. Several bids submitted by tire dealers to furnish the Town with casings and tubes was referred to the Finance Committee with power to act. The petition of S. J. and M. S. Robertson for a refund of their license was read. Councilman Siotin moved that $20.00 be refunded to them, Councilman Peters seconded and the motion passed.
