HomeMy Public PortalAbout19470624SCMeeting1 1 93 Licenses for Doing Business in th9 Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia, for the Fiscal Year Ending April 30th 1948 ", adopted at a meetinf of Council held on April 10th, 1947, be, and the same is hereby, amended in the following particulars;- 1. by adding thereto the following provisions : - "Each and every keeper of an apartment house or building, containing more than two apartments, or a tourist court or camp, each dwelling unit $3.00, with a minimum license of $35.00" "Every owner or keeper of a riding academy, livery stable, or place where horses and ponies are kept for use by the public. 1150.00" SECTION TWO. BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED by the authority afore- said that all ordinances, and parts of ordinances, in conflict here - with be, and the same are hereby, repealed. There being no further business Council adjourned, subject to the call of the Mayor. Clerk of Council. Mayor. Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Ga. June 24th, 1947. A special meeting of Town Council was held today at 6 ;00 P.M. and was attended by Mayor Dutton, who presided, and Councilmen Peters, Hosti, Lovell and Slotin and by all of the departmentheads. The meeting was called for the purpose of: 1. Appointing an alternate manager for the election to be held on June 25th. 2. To accept the resignation of Councilman Joel T. Farrell. 3. Hear petition of Tybee Realty Company to erect a neon sign on Butler Avenue. Councilman Peters moved that the following Resolution be adopted, Councilman Lovell seconded and the motion passed. 94 A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, on May 31st, 1947, the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, adopted a resolution naming four persons as managers to supervise and manage the election to be held in said Municipality Wednesday, June 25th, 1947, for the purpose of approving or disapproving the proposed issue of Ninety Thousand Dollars {90,000.00) in Bonds of said Municipality; AND,WHEREAS, Anton F. Solms, Jr., who was named as a Manager in said election has informed the Mayor and Councilmen that he will not be able to serve as such, so that Amy F. Dickey, Ben J. Alexander and Mrs. Laura M. Moore are now the only persons named as managers who are qualified and willing to serve as such, and it is necessary that one other freeholder be named to serve as manager in said election; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Ma.ycrand Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled that the follow- ing named person: Joel T. Farrell who is a freeholder and duly qualified voter of said Town be, and he is hereby named as a manager to supervise said election. Note: The Mayor informed the several department heads of the election to be held on June 25th for paving Bonds and requested them to do what they could with a view to having a large number of voters. Councilman Lovell moved that Councilman Joel T. Farrell's resignation be accepted as of-today and that it be accepted with regrets. Councilman Peters seconded and the motion passed. All of the members of Council expressed their regrets at the loss of Councilman Farrell and stated that since it was necessary that his health forced him to do it his resignation would be accepted reluct- antly. A petition was presented from the Tybee Realty Company requesting permission to erect a neon sign on Butler Avenue in front of their property, Councilman Peters moved that the request be granted, Councilman Hosti seconded and the motion passed. There being no further business, Council adjourned subject to the call of the Mayor.
