CITY OF TYBEE ISLAND
Bicycle Friendly Committee Minutes
September 13, 2011 11AM
Members in attendance: Co-Chair Kyle Pratt, Co-Chair Denise Dubuque, Diane Schleicher, Chantel Morton, Paul Wolff, Bill Garbett, Sunny Brown, William Moseley, and Michael Bodine.
Chair Pratt called the meeting to order.
Denise volunteered to take the meeting minutes.

Committee members photo was postponed until 10 AM, 9/20/11 at Park of the Seven Flags. Photo will be utilized in City Manager Schleicher’s Bicycle Summit presentation in October.
First Street Bike Route:
Diane and Joe Wilson met with DOT regarding the crossing at First St (Hwy 80). It was established that the sidewalk between Second Ave and Jones would be widened to the south, toward
the parking lot. The paved section would then become a “Multi-Use” path requiring additional signage
GDOT/Hwy 80 Bicycle Route:
In discussions with GDOT, Diane received positive feedback regarding a long range plan for bicycle lanes on both sides of Butler Ave. A main road with bicycle lanes would increase the
potential of Gold level Bicycle Friendly Community recognition for the City.
DOT is attempting expedite the typical 4-year process to 2 years on construction of Hwy 80 bicycle path. Diane commented that the required Corp permits would significantly slow the
process.
The next meeting was set for 10/11/11 at 11AM in the City Hall auditorium.
