20110614 Bicycle Friendly Meeting
Diane Schleicher called the meeting to order and announced that E than Imhoff has been appointed
chairman.
Those in attendance:
Ethan Imhoff, Denise Dubuque, Diane Schleicher, Chantel Morton, Jan Leviner, Michael
Bodine, Jonathan Hagan and Sunny Brown
Ethan asked Ms. Schleicher to discuss the location of new signs showing Tybee has been designated
as a Bicycle Friendly Community receiving the Bronze level. Diane suggested a sign be place when
coming on the Island and a decision on the second sign had not be made as of yet. She will bring
suggestions to the next meeting on July 12, 2011.
Chantel discussed plans for the ceremonies on July 25. Bill Nesper will be flying in for the event and
she will check his schedule and then finalize the event. There will be an official presentation and the
media will be invited. There will also be a bicycle ride from the round-about to Memorial Park on the
official Bicycle Blvd with refreshments to follow.
Old Business:
Youth Bike Club. There has been no interest to date from the community. Ethan stated that we
need long term goals and possibly develop a curriculum for this program. Jonathan Hagan feels
this program should have a set time, possibly a 6 week program and have three possible goals to
achieve.
New Business:
Ethan asked Diane is we were locked into the Bronze level until 2015. She said she did not have that
information at this time but would find out. She is also awaiting the report back from the grant to
show weak points to assist us in applying for the next level.
Denise would like to see additional bike racks at Tybee Oaks and also on Tybrisia . The question was
also posed as to additional bike racks at the pier. We need to review the locations for all existing
bike racks.
Future meetings will be the second Tuesday of each month at 11:00AM.
