SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES
JULY 26, 2023
1. CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Man called the City Council Special Meeting to order at 7:01 a.m. in the City
Hall Community Room located at 9701 Las Tunas Drive, Temple City.
2. ROLL CALL
PRESENT: Councilmember — Sternquist, Chavez, Man
ABSENT: Councilmember — Vizcarra, Yu
ALSO PRESENT: City Manager Cook, Parking Control Officer Mayorga, Senior
Community Preservation Officer Tran, Deputy City Clerk
Nunez, and Administrative Assistant to the City Manager and
City Council Ortiz

Acting Captain Meza, Deputy Anchondo, and Deputy Bui
Councilmember Sternquist made a motion to excuse Councilmember Vizcarra and
Councilmember Yu, seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Chavez.

A. QUALITY OF LIFE
Acting Captain Meza provided a brief overview of the Zero -Bail Policy and the
impacts on public safety.
Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of the sex offender registrants, paroles,
and probationers in the City from June 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
B. OPERATIONS

Deputy Anchondo provided an update regarding arrests and operations in the City
from June 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.

Mayor Pro Tem Chavez made comments on fireworks during the Fourth of July
holiday.

Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of crime trends in neighboring cities
affecting Temple City from June 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.

Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of notable arrests made in the City from
June 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023.
E. CRIME STATISTICS
Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of the crime statistics from June 1, 2023
to June 30, 2023.
F. TRAFFIC ISSUES
Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of the traffic issues from June 1, 2023 to
June 30, 2023.
G.TRAFFIC STATISTICS
Deputy Anchondo provided an overview of the traffic statistics from June 1, 2023
to June 30, 2023.
City Council asked questions regarding traffic safety enhancements.
H. SPECIAL ASSIGNMENT TEAM ACTIVITIES
Deputy Anchondo provided an update on the special assignment team activities.
I. PUBLIC OUTREACH / EVENTS
Deputy Anchondo reported on the public outreach conducted by the special
assignment team.
J. UPCOMING EVENTS FOR AUGUST 2023
Deputy Anchondo announced upcoming meetings and events that will be
conducted in the City.
7. PUBLIC COMMENTS
Jerry Jambazian, Temple City businessowner, inquired about the Letter of Agency

and commented on spousal abuse and how deputies handle these issues.
Peter Zovak, Temple City resident, commented on injury, non -injury, and unreported
traffic accidents.

The City Council Special Meeting was adjourned at 8:08 a.m.
