A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY,
CALIFORNIA APPROVING THE REVISIONS TO ITS HEALTHCARE
CONTRIBUTIONS FOR COUNCILMEMBERS
WHEREAS, on June 20, 1978, the City Council approved Resolution No. 78-1747,
approving the participation of the City of Temple City (City) and stating its contributions to
the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CaIPERS) medical healthcare
insurance program.
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2023, the City Council approved Resolution No. 23-5690,
fixing the City's contribution under the Public Employees' Medical and Hospital Care Act
(PEMHCA) for full-time employees and annuitants.
WHEREAS, on August 15, 2023, the City Council approved Resolution No. 23-569x,
rescinding Resolution No. 78-1747.
NOW THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE, DETERMINE AND ORDER AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council hereby approves the City's healthcare contributions for
Councilmembers (CM):
Elected before October 1, 2023:
Active
Retirement
Medical Premium
100% CM + 50% Dependents
100% Retiree + 50% Dependents
Dental Premium
100% CM + 50% Dependents
100% Retiree Only
Vision Premium
100% CM Only
100% Retiree Only
Vesting
None.
Elected on or after October 1, 2023:
Active
Retirement
Medical Premium
100% CM + 50% Dependents
50% Retiree + 25% Dependents
Dental Premium
100% CM + 50% Dependents
50% Retiree Only
Vision Premium
100% CM Only
50% Retiree Only
Vesting
5 consecutive years of service
with City. (Either via election to
two terms or service of a
partial term and then election
to a term.)

Total City contributions to health benefit premiums (Medical, Dental, Vision
Insurance and Supplemental Benefits) received by a Councilmember may not
exceed the amount below based on the following levels:
For Calendar Year 2024:
CM Only = $1,180 per month
CM +1 = $1,905 per month

CM +2 or More = $2,275 per month
The total amounts for Calendar Year 2025 will be adjusted for each level
according to the increases of the highest insurance premiums for medical,
dental and vision.
For retirees eligible for Tier 1, total City contributions to health benefit premiums
(Medical, Dental and, Vision Insurance) received by retiree may not exceed the
amount below based on the following levels:
For Calendar Year 2024:
Retiree Only = $1,410 per month
Retiree +1 = $1,540 per month
Retiree +2 or More = $1,670 per month
The Tier 1 total amounts for Calendar Year 2025 will be adjusted for each level
according to the increases of the highest retiree insurance premiums for medical,
dental and vision.
For retirees eligible for Tier 2, total City contributions to health benefit premiums
(Medical, Dental and, Vision Insurance) received by retiree may not exceed the
amount below based on the following levels:
For Calendar Year 2024:
Retiree Only = $705 per month
Retiree +1 = $770 per month
Retiree +2 or More = $835 per month
The Tier 2 total amounts for Calendar Year 2025 will be adjusted for each level
according to the increases of the highest retiree insurance premiums for medical,
dental and vision.
Section 2. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this Resolution.
