New Business: “Rules of the Road” Power Point Presentation by Tybee Island Police Department, Corporal Whitley Chief Bryson said that 80% of the bikes on Tybee have no lights and that the police department is easy with adults and kids. Chatham County arrests all in violation of bike rules. Chief Bryson reported: Kids MUST have helmets Lights at night Police department doing stolen bike stings Mr. Paul Wolff stated that he likes the approach the police department is taking. Ms. Diane Schleicher suggested that the “Rules of the Road” could be presented to City Council. All attendees agreed that the presentation would be made at the next council meeting on August 23, 2012. Chief Bryson advised that he would have the information to the clerk of council by the end of the day. Old Business: Paving schedule in place: Mr. Joe Wilson will get trees then paving 14th Street/ Done September 10th In the park September 10th for two weeks Waiting on Downer Davis for drainage Grading second week of September Trying to get paved During paving one half will be done at a time grading on the south end two days by the Y on the retention system Fence on Fourteenth out after Labor Day First week of September, crack seal and coat Mr. Wolff asked Mr. Wilson to give Chantel the schedule. Mr. Garbett, Ms. Brown and Ms. Schleicher revisited the conflict between the pavilion and the volleyball court and putting a fence there. A discussion ensued. Mr. Wilson said that he does not think it is necessary. Mr. Wolff agreed. They both stated that the volleyball court is not used that often and do not think a fence is necessary. Ms. Brown said that the fencing will wait, based on the information presented in the meeting. She said that we will see how it goes after the trail is improved. Mr. Wilson stated that the curve near the fire station will be widened. A consultant is sending a concept plan to DOT for smoother gravel and to meet ADA requirements plus environmental concerns. The gravel will be similar to pea gravel and packed tightly. Ms. Schleicher has information on material used in Maine on bike paths. There is a construction plan in winter. The biggest hold up will be Corp permits. Mr. Wolff moved to adjourn. Mr. Garbett seconded. The meeting was adjourned.
