Bicycle Friendly Committee Minutes
February 14, 2012 11AM
Members in attendance: Co-Chair Denise Dubuque, City Manager Diane Schleicher, Chantel Morton, Clerk of
Council Jan LeViner, Michael Bodine, Chief Bob Bryson, and Council members Paul Wolff, Barry Brown, Tom
Groover.
Chair Dubuque called the meeting to order.
City Manager Schleicher introduced The Green Lane Project, sponsored by Bikes Belong
(www.greenlaneproject.org) with a video. The GLP will distribute grants to cities through an application
process; the emphasis is streetscape improvements. CM Schleicher suggested that gaining expertise
through a partnership would enhance our project planning, enabling us to “do it right the first time”.
Discussion ensued regarding Butler, Jones, and Second Avenue as prospective projects for the grant.
Resident input will be considered via a new Survey Monkey. Previous SM questions will be emailed to BFC
members for feedback and new questions.
The Committee reviewed the previous meeting minutes from January 2012; a motion was made to approve
the minutes, it was seconded and unanimously approved.
Memorial Park Bicycle Path survey is complete and the drainage and site plan are in progress.
The Bicycle Rodeo will be held in conjunction with the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day on 4/28/12, from 10AM to
1PM.
City Manager Schleicher noted that May is Bicycle Month, the committee agreed to promote Bike-to-Work
Week May 6th-May 12th.
A motion was made to adjourn, seconded and approved.
