Bicycle Friendly Committee Minutes
March 13, 2012 11AM
Members in attendance: Co-Chair Denise Dubuque, City Manager Diane Schleicher, Chantel Morton, Chief Bob
Bryson, Sunny Brown, Danny Carpenter, Gina Casagrande and Council members Paul Wolff, Barry Brown, Tom
Groover.
Chair Dubuque called the meeting to order and introduced Frank McIntosh from Savannah Bicycle Campaign.
Chantel made a motion to approve the last meeting’s minutes, it was seconded and unanimously approved.
City Manager Schleicher distributed the Proposed Bike Path Location pending Site Plan Approval by City
Council. The proposal routes the path around the Fire Station and parallel to Jones, veering back onto 4th
Street to connect with the 2nd Ave bike path. The drainage plan is currently in engineering.
The Bicycle Rodeo will be held in conjunction with the YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day on 4/28/12, from 10AM to
1PM. City Manager Schleicher asked for volunteers and the need for prizes. Frank stated there would be
plenty of volunteers from the Savannah Bicycle Campaign. Denise will submit special event form for City
Council approval and have waivers available for parents at the Cashier’s Desk.
Survey Monkey questions were reviewed; Denise will post the revisions for resident feedback.
City Manager Schleicher noted that May is Bicycle Month, the committee agreed to promote Bike-to-Work
Week May 6th-May 12th.
A motion was made to adjourn, seconded and approved.
