Notes from June 12, 2012 meeting
Minutes from the April 10, 2012 meeting approved.
I. Intersection stencil on the road at Jones Ave. Discussion of stencil, costs.
Will use current stencil and another giant arrow: Toward 2nd on Jones. Joe
may suggest at the stop signs.
II. Request Police Department to Schedule Bicycle “Rules of the Road” Power
Point Presentation for July 12, 2012 City Council Meeting-Mr. Garbett
suggested that power point be sent to Diane, Sunni, as well as himself to
shorten. As part of enforcement and education, encourage bicycle safety
Cyclists ride with the traffic, it is the law.
Old Business:
III. Update on Status of Memorial Park Bicycle/Pedestrian Path
a. Council voted for the old location
b. Paving in the fall. Diane will discuss with DPW
c. Drainage is already being done. A tree has been removed.
d. Moved to budget for 2013 in SPLOST
e. As a safety issue, a split rail fence was suggested for people to cross the
path
f. Cost, example of what the fence would look like, distance would be
obtained
IV. Update on Change in Route Signage at 2nd Avenue and 1st Street
a. DPW did change
b. No change in route. Signage is better
