AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 01-11
BE IT ORDAINED by the Mayor and Borough Council of the Borough of Carteret (the
"Borough") as follows:
Section 1 At the end of Paragraph A, add the following:
", including supervision/administration of the Fire
Prevention Bureau."
Section 2 Delete Paragraph C, and replace it with the following:
The requirements of Battalion Fire Chief are possession of a
Bachelor of Science or Arts Degree, preferably with some focus in
administration. Three years of supervisory experience involving
the extinguishing of fires and oversight of Fire Prevention
operations. Certification as a New Jersey Fire Official and
possession of a valid Incident Management Level I certification
issued by the New Jersey Division of Fire Safety, Department of
Community Affairs.
Section 3 All ordinances or parts thereof inconsistent with the provision of
this ordinance are hereby repealed limited to the extent of any
such inconsistency.
Section 4 If any section, paragraph, sub -division, clause or provision of this
ordinance is adjudged invalid, such adjudication shall apply only
to the section, paragraph, sub -division, clause or provision so
adjudged and the remainder of this ordinance shall be deemed
valid and effective.
Section 5 This ordinance shall take effect upon its passage and publication
according to applicable law.

Battalion Flre Chief position. The foregoing ordinance was

a meeting of the Coundl of the Borough of Carteret
held March 2, 2023 when it we z adopted on first reading. The said
ordinance will be further considered on second reading for final
adopption at a meeting of sold Council of the Borough of Carteret
on Au ust 24, 2023 approximately 6.00 P.M. at the Memorial
Munidppei BUliding, 61 Cooke Avenue, 2nd floor, Carteret, NJ at
