Lambert, C munity Development Manager f� SUBJECT: PLANNING COMMISSION ACTIONS - MEETING OF NOVEMBER 9, 2010 RECOMMENDATION: The City Council is requested to receive and file the Planning Commission actions from their meeting of November 9, 2010. BACKGROUND: Following is a summary of actions taken at the Planning Commission meeting of November 9, 2010. 1. APPROVAL OF MINUTES The Planning Commission approved the minutes of October 26, 2010. 2. PUBLIC HEARING REGARDING ZONE VARIANCE 10-1770 The Planning Commission continued this item to the regular meeting of December 14, 2010. A motion was made to deny the request, and the Planning Commission voted 2-2 to deny the request, therefore the motion did not pass. After that vote, the Planning Commission unanimously voted to continue the matter to the next regularly scheduled Planning Commission meeting at which time five Commissioners should be present. The applicant would like to construct a 736 square foot addition on the second floor and to construct a new 400 square foot 2 -car garage at the subject property, located at 6231 Muscatel Avenue. The following Zone Variances are being requested: 1. To have a combined second floor side yard setback of 10 feet, instead of the required 15 feet; 2. To not provide at least 50 percent or more of the second story front elevation setback further than 10 feet of the first story's front elevation; and 3. To have a house width of 9 feet 8 City Council December 7, 2010 Page 2 inches, instead of the required 25 feet. The subject property is located within the Single Family Residential Zone (R-1) and is designated as Low Density Residential by the General Plan. (ZV 10-1770) (Tan/General Civil Engineering & Design, Inc.) CONCLUSION: The City Council is requested to review the Planning Commission actions of their meeting of November 9, 2010. FISCAL IMPACT This item does not have an impact on the Fiscal Year (FY) 2010-11 City Budget.
