HomeMy Public PortalAbout20130409_BFCMinutes.docxBicycle Friendly Committee Notes from April 9, 2013 meeting ATTENDEES: Sunni Brown, Bill Garbett, Paul Wolff, Diane Schleicher, Gina Casagrande, Chantel Morton, Lindsay Fruchtl, Michael Bodine Ms. Brown called the meeting to order. Mr. Garbett moved to approve the minutes from the last meeting. Mr. Wolff seconded. The minutes were approved. New Business: National Bicycle Month – May Ms. Schleicher explained that a proclamation would have to be sent to council during the month of April to get that proclaimed. National Bicycle to Work Week – In the Month of May Ms. Schleicher stated that a week will have to be decided on for the Bike to work week, preferably a week with a Council meeting so that they can ride to the meeting. Mr. Garbett made a motion to make Bike to Work week as May 5-11. Mr. Wolff seconded. The motion was carried. Ms. Schleicher said that she would prepare a proclamation for both for the April 25, 2013 meeting. Old Business: Discussion Successful 2013 Tybee Youth Bicycle Rally – March 30, 2013 Ms. Casagrande commented on the success of the event and recommended that it be done with the Legion Easter Egg Hunt again. The committee discussed the success of the event. Ms. Schleicher advised the committee that the City is still moving forward with the bike trail. She said that she believes that once the trail is completed she hopes that the City will become Silver. The committee discussed ways to get more people interested in bicycling. Mr. Bodine asked about the possibility of putting a caution sign up for bicyclists crossing a streets to the bicycle path. Mr. Wolff motioned to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Garbett seconded. The meeting was adjourned.
