Bicycle Friendly Committee
Notes from January 8, 2013 meeting
ATTENDEES: Sunni Brown, Bill Garbett, Paul Wolff, Diane Schleicher, Michael Bodine, Chantel Morton
Ms. Brown called the meeting to order.
Mr. Garbett moved that the notes from the September 18, 2012 meeting be approved. Mr. Wolff seconded.
The notes were approved.
New Business:
I. 2013 Tybee Bicycle Rodeo
Ms. Schleicher advised that the YMCA Healthy Kids week will be May 6-10.
She said that the YMCA cannot have the Rodeo on May 11. Ms Schleicher said that Gina
Cassagrande suggested partnering with the American Legion. Gina said not to do the Rodeo the
weekend of the Turtle Trot. She suggested a scavenger hunt during the Rodeo.
The committee discussed possibilities of events and the route during the Rodeo.
Dates for the Rodeo were discussed as well as the possibility of partnering with the American
Legion on the date of the Easter Egg hunt.
A discussion ensued about the logistics of the Rodeo and Egg hunt.
Ms. Schleicher suggested having a helmet fit for the kids during the event.
Ms. Brown suggested offering fingerprinting for the children.
Ms. Schleicher asked if the committee wanted her to pursue the concept of partnering with the
Legion and working with Safe Kids and the Savannah Bicycle Club.
The committee was in agreement.
Ms. Schleicher suggested ages 6-12 and must be accompanied by an adult.
Mr. Wolff moved to adjourn the meeting. Mr. Garbett seconded.
The meeting was adjourned.
