ORDINANCE NO. 65-179
AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF TEMPLE CITY TEMPORARILY AMENDING
THE ZONING CODE OF THIS CITY BY PROHIBIT-
ING CERTAIN USES IN THE C -2 AND C -t1 ZONES.
ADOPTING THE SAME AS AN INTERIM ZONING
ORDINANCE PURSUANT TO SECTION 65358 OF THE
GOVERNMENT CODE AND DECLARING THAT SUCH
ORDINANCE SHALL BE IMMEDIATELY EFFECTIVE.
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and determines that the
Planning Commission has heretofore undertaken for study and has
scheduled a public hearing with respect to the determination of
whether there should be further regulations in the C -2 and C -M
Zones of use relating to entertainment or dancing; that the Plan-
ning Commission will not complete its studies for several months
and it is appropriate at this time to adopt an interim ordinance
temporarily proscribing such activities in the C -2 and C -M Zones
and placing a moratorium upon the issuance of permits for such
usez until the Planning Commission has completed its studies.
SECTION 2. The following regulations are hereby adopted as
a temporary interim zoning ordinance: No use shall be henceforth
permitted in the C -2 or C -M Zones which permits dancing or enter-
tainment whether in bona fide restaurants or cocktail bars or
elsewhere or at all.
SECTION 3. During the term of this ordinance it shall be
unlawful for any person to violate any of the regulations set
forth in Section 2 above and the officers and employees of this
City are directed to issue no permits contrary thereto.
SECTION 4. All portions of the Zoning Code inconsistent
with the provisions of Section 2 above are hereby suspended dur-
ing.the term of this ordinance.
SECTION 5. This ordinance shall remain in effect until
March 7, 1966.
SECTION 6. This ordinance shall become immediately effec-
tive as an urgency ordinance pursuant to Section 65C58 of the
Government Code and for the reasons hereinabove set forth in Sec-
tion 1 and to protect the City of Temple City against the inimical
factors of such uses pending determination by the Planning Commis-
sion and this City Council.
SECTION 7. The City Clerk of the City of Temple City shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and to its
approval by the Mayor and shall cause the same to be published in
the Temple City Times, a semi-weekly newspaper, published and cir-
culated in the City of Tcm pl e City.
