Please accept this letter as my request to fill the Citizen at Large seat on the Local Option Tax
Commission.
For the past several months, I have been actively growing my roots here in McCall. I have
undertaken multiple volunteer roles for McPaws, Barbara Morgan Elementary, Mountain
Community School and The Progressive Club.
One thing that makes me feel proud is the fight at my house over who gets to read The Star
News first on Thursdays. The story of McCall is of great interest to me; and I'm glad that
sentiment has been contagious within my family. I have been pouring over our local current
affairs and events ever since we moved here nearly five years ago. I'm deeply committed to
(read: in love with) McCall, and I'm eager to transition from spectator to participant in the
shaping of its identity. Serving as Citizen at Large for the LOT Commission will enable me to
contribute, engage, and experience the processes that make the wheels go 'round in this town.
My work history includes:
• small business owner(Basecamp McCall - had a very short life)
• solo-preneur(residential organizing business)
• writer(for a blog)
• sales trainer(for a global franchise)
• teacher(including 5 years abroad)
I'm good at:
• asking questions to find deep meaning and information
• generating ideas
• thinking critically and creatively
• editing for error and appropriate layout
• connecting with others
• organizing of all kinds-words, information, physical spaces and items
hauling stuff(can be taken just as it sounds)
On a personal note, my New Year's resolution is to take more candid photos of my husband with
our kids. I firmly believe in the hand-written thank-you note, I am a huge fan of lists, and I have a
dream to write a Valley County Farmers Market cookbook within the next decade. My most
recent reads were: The Vintage Years: Finding Your Inner Artist After Sixty(also relevant at 40),
and I'm Just No Good At Rhyming and Other Nonsense for Mischievous Kids and Immature
Grown-Ups.
