Wayne Neddermeyer - Mayor in Chair Priscilla Arens - Clerk All members present Thomas S. Hay of the Metropolitan Sewer Board was there to present the situation with regard to the "take over" of the ponding *rea. Discussion on all phases and final decision to be made at regular meeting February 2nd. Mimed by Donald Des Lauriers that the meeting adjourn. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 9:30 P. M. The Council of the Village of Medina met in regular meeting on Bebruary 2, 1971 at 7:30 P. M. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. The minutes of the special meeting of January 13, 1971 read. Moved by Arthur Theis to approve the minutes as read. Seconded by Donald Des Lguriers Motion carried,. Minutes of the Planning Commission meeting of January 18, 1971 read. Robert Franklin was sworn in a member of the Council. Mr. Lonnie Dye of the Netropolitan Sewer Noard/�'gpanswer questions with regard to the take-over of the ponding area. Moved by Thomas Stevens that we enter into an agreement with regard to the ponding area with the Metropolitan Sewer Board. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. Recommended that the Planning Commission stud* a comprehensive plan with regard to sewer extension regarding to platting code. A petition from Joseph S. and Harriet V. Holasekgoldinz for sewer and water on their property for development. A meeting with the Council, the Engineer and Attorney and the Holaseks and their prospective clients is to be set up for a later date. 25. Chuck Hoover with regard to a police school. Moved by Robert Franklin to have Chuck Hoover attend the police school from March 22, 1971 to April 2, 1971. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Mayor Neddermeyer appointed Robert Franklin as Chief of Police. Moved by Arthur Theis that the Village of Medina pay $10.00 for membership in the Northwest Suburban Chamber of Commerce for the year 1971. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Chuck Hoover advised to renew his bond from $500.00 to $1000.00. Moved by Robert Franklin for the adoption of a resolution giving the County the authority to sell the tax forfeited land designated as "645-C" in the Village of Medina. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Council polled: Donald Des Lauriers, yes; Arthur Theis, yes; Robert Franklin, yes, Wayne Neddermeyer, yes; and Thomas Stevens, yes. Motion carried. Moved by Robert Franklin to attempt to release for sale Plat 6000, Parcel 8220, Dist. 80, Clerk to contact the Auditor's office. Seconded by Arthur Theis Council polled: Donald Des Lauriers, yes; Arthur Theis, yes; Robert Franklin, yes, Wayne Neddermeyer, yes; and Thomas Stevens, tes. Motion carried. Moved by Robert Franklin to appoint Adella Gertz as chairman for the election. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. The Council suggested the following names from which to select judges: Mrs. Frank Schneider, Marion Ahlstrom, Mrs. Fred Pugh, Mrs. Bob McCrea, Gertrude Thies, Leona Koelfgen, Mrs. Arnold Erdman, Jeanne Mabusth, Jeanne Sorensen, Mrs. Donald Pitts, Mrs. Russel Bouley, Jr., Mrs. Donald Laurant, Mrs. James Adams, Mrs. Ronald Fortin, Mrs. Walter Kohnen, Mrs. Gerald Carlson, Mrs. John Willegalla, Mrs. Don Mueller, Mildred Thies, Mrs. Leona Branson, Mrs. Don Peppel, Mrs. Virgil Morin, Mrs. Tom Oglund, Bernice Sipe and Mrs. Robert Haislet. Moved by Thomas Stevens to grant permission to Northwestern Bell Telephone Company to place buried cable on Willow Drive and County Road 24, estimate number 4988, prints 1, 2, And 3. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Moved by Donald Des Lauriers to grant permission to Northwestern Bell Telephone Company to attach a Number 6 ground wire to the eight -inch water main at Trunk Hw. 55 and Co.Rd. 116, estimate #4904. Seconded by Arthur Theis Motion carried. A/ieetterffrom the Pollution Control Agency to Mrs. Clover Boyer with regard to her sanitary landfill was read. 26 Moved by Thomas Stevens to refer the letter from Paul J. Kvanicka, Jr. with regard to the fire call for his carat?ogu ii t .4T$fl ion. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Moved by Arthur Theis to approve cigarette licenses for 1971 to the following: Fred Glampe of Glampe's Resort and Cafe; LeRpy Hensen of Hamel Gulf station; Robert I. Feser of Medina Public Golf Course; and Gladys B. Vollmer of Glad -Mar Cafe. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Nation carried. Moved by Donald Des Tmnriers to grant an outdoor theater license to The Colonial Drive -In Theater for 1971, subject to receipt of certificate of workmen's compensation. Seconded by Robert Franklin Motion carried. Notice of Hearing re- centralize agency service read. Soo Line R.,ilroad Moedtby Arthur Theia to pay the bills as follows: Payroll in the amount of $3,656.89 and order checks in the amount of $59,545.10. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Announcement of Hennepin'County League of Municipalities/R(100M. on February 11, 1971 at the Golden Valley Village Hall. Moved by Thomas Stevens for the Mayor to investigate the problem of getting the birth and death records to the County. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Moved by Robert Franklin to ask the County to put up "deer signs" on County Road #24. Seconded by Donald Des Lauriers Motion carried. Arthur Theis reported on an old house on #19 as not fit for living quarters. Recommended by Wayne Nedderr?grrArthur Theis to contact Dr. Anderson and ask him to inspect the house and take necessary steps. Moved hy Robert Franklin to appoint Raymond Bosch as a part time police officer. Seconded by Thomas Stevens Motion carried. Moved by Donald Des Lauriers to adjourn the meeting.
