HomeMy Public PortalAboutRES 87/03l RESOLUTION NO. 87 -3 A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COMMISISON OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, FLORIDA, DECLARING THAT OF THE FIVE COMMISSION SEATS AVAILABLE FOR THE MARCH 10 MUNICIPAL ELECTION THAT ONLY FIVE CANDIDATES FILED FOR SAID SEATS PRIOR TO THE EXPIRATION DATE FOR FILING; DECLARING, AS A RESULT, THAT THERE SHALL BE NO NEED FOR A MUNICIPAL ELECTION ON MARCH 10 AND THEREBY CANCELLING SAID ELECTION. WHEREAS, a proclamation announcing the date of the municipal election of the Town of Gulf Stream for the purpose of electing commissioners to the five commission seats available, was posted and advertised pursuant to law; and WHEREAS, the expiration date for filing for said seats was February 10, 1987; and WHEREAS, of the five commission seats available, only five persons filed to fill said seats; and WHEREAS, since there is no opposition for the seats available, there is no need to hold a municipal election; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE TOWN COMMISSION OF THE TOWN OF GULF STREAM, PALM BEACH COUNTY, FLORIDA, as follows: Section 1. The expiration date for filing for the March 10 municipal election in the Town of Gulf Stream having been February 10, 1987 and only five persons having filed for the five commission seats available, it is hereby declared that there is no need to hold the March 10 municipal election and said election is hereby cancelled. Section 2. The following five persons having filed for the five commission seats available shall, subsequent to March 10, 1987, pursuant to the terms of the Charter and Ordinances of the Town of Gulf Stream assume the offices of Commissioners of the Town of Gulf Stream: a. William F. Koch, Jr. b. Allen I. Armour C. James E. Cross d. James T. Skelly, Jr. � 11 e. Lawrence Stahl Section 3. A copy of this Resolution shall be provided to the Supervisor of Elections of Palm Beach County, Florida. PASSED AND ADOPTED in a regular, adjourned session assembled this 13 day of February , 1987.
