A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
APPROVING THE RESIDENTIAL AND COMMERCIAL RATE INCREASES FOR
SOLID WASTE SERVICES AND AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO EXECUTE
THE CONTRACT AMENDMENT WITH CONSOLIDATED DISPOSAL
SERVICES, INC.
WHEREAS, on September 2, 2003, the City Council adopted Resolution
2003-175 approving the Solid Waste Services Contract with Consolidated
Disposal Services, Inc (Contractor).; and
WHEREAS, said contract took effect on November 1, 2003; and
WHEREAS, the contract affords CDS an annual Consumer Price Index
increase beginning on November 1, 2005; and
WHEREAS,
requires the City to
diversion rate; and
the California Integrated Waste Management Board now
implement certain additional programs to increase the waste
WHEREAS, the implementation of said programs requires Contractor to perform
additional services that will incur additional cost to the service contract; and
WHEREAS, said additional cost will result in additional rate increases to the
trash customers; and
WHEREAS, staff has negotiated these rate increases in good faith with
Contractor and has presented rate increase options to the City Council; and
WHEREAS, the City Council has selected the rate increase option as
shown in Attachment "_", attached herewith.
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does hereby
find, proclaim, order and resolve as follows:
Section 1. That the City Council approves a rate increase for the Solid
Waste Services Contract with Consolidated Disposal Services, Inc. according to
Attachment "_", attached herewith, for period from January 1 2006 though
October 31, 2006. '
Section 2. That the Mayor is authorized to execute the contract
amendment.
Section 3. This resolution shall take effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 20 day of December 2005.
