Commission Appointee Ms. Ginger Strickland read the qualification form and told the Mayor that she was not qualified to be on the committee because she didn’t reside on Tybee Island. Mayor Buelterman administered the oath to all appointees. Those taking the oath to serve on the commission were: Pam O’Brien Fretwell Crider Walker Beeson Michael Sullivan Carolyn Smith Randi Bryan Susan Off - Auxiliary Danny Hill Qualification forms and Oaths were given to Vivian Woods to keep on file in the Clerk’s Office as required. City Attorney Bubba Hughes told the commission the first order of business was to select a Chair and Co-Chair for the commission and secondly to work on by-laws. Ms. Off said she had some research that she had done on by-laws from different areas that she could share with the committee members. Walker Beeson nominated Fretwell Crider as Chairman and Randi Bryan nominated Carolyn Smith as Chairman. The vote for Mr. Crider was 5 in favor making Mr. Crider the Chairman and Ms. Smith the Co-Chairman. Mr. Hughes gave the committee highlights from the Ethics Ordinance concerning their responsibilities and the process for complaints. Mr. Crider asked who the secretary of the committee would be. Ms. Schleicher said it would be Janice Elliott. Mr. Crider requested Ms. Elliott circulate e-mail addresses among commission members. Ms. Schleicher said she had talked to Linda Gladin about helping with educating the commission on the Ethics Ordinance. The Ethics Commission decided they would have their first meeting on September 10th at 4:00PM. With there being no further business the meeting was adjourned. Respectfully submitted by Vivian Woods.
