AN O~INANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE ~00-18 "THE TOWING
ORDINANCE" TO REVISE THE COMMENCEMENT DATE AND
LICENSE PERIOD OF THE O~INANCE
WHEREAS, the Mayor and Council of the Borough of Carteret (the "Borough")
adopted Ordinance #00-18 (the "Towing Ordinance") in order to more equitably
provide for the utilization of towing services in connection with police directed
tows; and
WHEREAS, said towing Ordinance resulted in substantial revisions in the towing
service selection process; and
WHEREAS, the implementation of the towing Ordinance has been delayed longer
than anticipated and thus requires a revision of the commencement date and the
licensing period.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDINANCED that Ordinance #00-18 is hereby
amended as follows to facilitate the smooth and effective implementation of the
TOWING ORDINANCE:
1) Article II, OFFICIAL TOWERS TO BE APPOINTED/TOWER'S LIST,
Subsection E is deleted and replaced in its entirety with the following:
"The license period shall be for three (3) years. The initial license period shall
commence July 1, 2001 and end June 30, 2004. Licenses issued thereafter
shall be for three (3) years commencing on the next July 1st, following the
preceding license period.
2) ARTICLE II, OFFICIAL TOWERS TO BE APPOINTED/TOWER'S LIST,
subsection F, line 2, the date :December 1st is deleted and replaced with "June

immediately and shall be advertised as required by law.
