HomeMy Public PortalAboutOrdinance 66-196ORDINANCE NO. 66 -196 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AMENDING SUBPARAGRAPH 2 OF ARTICLE IX, ADOPTED BY ORDINANCE NO. 65 -168, OF THE TEMPLE CITY MUNICIPAL CODE, RELATING TO MEMBERS OF THE PLANNING COMMISSION. THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN AS FOLLOWS: SECTION 1. That Subparagraph 2 of Article IX, of the Temple City Municipal Code, is hereby amended to read as follows: "2. MEMBERS. The Planning Commission of this City shall cons st of five (5) members appointed for two -year terms by the Mayor, subject to the approval of the City Council. No person shall be eligible for appointment to the Planning Commission unless he is a resident and a registered, qualified voter of this City at the time of appointment and at all times during his term of office. Any Commission member may be removed with or without cause by a majority vote of the City Council. Vacancies to the Commission shall be filled by the Council in the same manner as new appointments are made, except that such an appoin- tee shall serve only for the unexpired term of the person whose seat he has been appointed to." SECTION 2. The Council declares that it is necessary to adopt this ordinance as an emergency ordinance for the reasons set forth in the memo of the City Attorney dated June 2, 1966. SECTION 3. That the City Clerk shall certify the adoption of this ordinance and cause the same to be published in the manner prescribed by law. PASSED AND ADOPTED this 2nd day of June, 1966.
