There being no further business, Council adjourned, subject to the all of the P' yor. Cle of Counc Mayor Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Georgia July 5, 19+9 A special meeting of Town Council was held at 6 p. M. in the Council Room end was attended by Mayor Dutton, who presided, Council- men peters, Brown, Meddin, Lovell end Town Attorney, Solms, Jr.. The meeting was called for the purpose of considering or not the Town wishes to convey Lot 3, Block 15, Ft. Screven ward and the improvements to the Savannah Reach Volunteer Fire Department for services which they have rendered to the municipality. The Committee appointed to investigate the matter reported that the property should be turned over to them, Councilman Peters moved that the following resolution be adopted, Councilman Brown seconded and the motion passed. A RESOLUTION WHEREAS, the Savannah Beach Volunteer Fire Department has requested that the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach make available to it the property and improvements owned by Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, located in the old Fort Screven Reservation and used formerly by the United States Government as a fire house, so that it may be used by the members of said Department for club rooms and recreational purposes, and has expressed its desire to make certain permanent improvements on the property; AND WHEREAS, the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, are very appreciative of the excellent work that has been done by the members of the Department in past years, and desire to assist the Department in providing such facilities; BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Mayor and Councilmen of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, in Council assembled that the Mayor of said Town be, and he is hereby authorized to convey to the Sc.v v:h Beach Volunteer Fire Department, the following c.escribed 1 -, -r4J, to-vit: 226 ALL that certain lot, tract or parcel of land situate, lying and being in the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, Chatham County, Georgia, known and designated on a map or plan of Fort Screven, as Lot Number Three (3), Block Fifteen (15), in Fort Screven Ward; said Lot Number Three (3), Block Fifteen (15), Fort Screven Ward, being rectangular in shape and having a Northern boundary on Cedarwood Drive of Sixty-one and Ninety-eight hundredths, (61.98) feet, more or less; an Eastern boundary along the dividing' line between Lot Number Two (2), and Lot Number Three (3), said Ward of One Hundred Forty-two and Ninety hundredths (142.90) feet, more or less; a Southern boundary on Beywood Avenue of Sixty-one and Sixty- hundredths (61.60) feet, more or less, and a Western boundary on an unimproved Road of One Hundred Thirty-seven and Thirty-five hundred- ths (137.35) feet, more or less. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of Council of said Municipality be and he is hereby authorized to attest the signature of the Mayor ef Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, on this deed and to affix the corporate seal of the Municipality thereto. There being no further business, Council “ijourned, subject to the *-11 of the Mayor Savannah Bench, Tybee Island, Georgia July 5, 1949 A meeting of Council was held in the Auditorium at 8 P. M. for the purpose of inaugurating the new Board. into office for the remainder of the year, and was attended by Mayor Dutton and Council- men Hosti, Meddin, peters , Lovell, Brown, and Councilman-Elect, Smith. Chief Judge B. B. Heery of the Municipal Court of Savannah administered the following oath to mayor Dutton: I, EDWARD A. DUTTON, do solemnly swear that I will faith- fully and honestly perform the duties of Mayor of the Town of Savannah Beach, Tybee Island, to the best of my skill and ability, without favor or affection; so help me God. /s/ dward A. Dutton Judge Heery congratulated the Mayor and extended good wishes for his success on his new tenure of office. Judge Heery then administered the following oaths for the Councilmen: 00 1 1 1
