A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD
AUTHORIZING THE 2018 WEIGHT LOSS CHALLENGE PROGRAM AND THE
OFFERING OF PRIZE MONEY TO PROGRAM WINNERS •
WHEREAS, City Council of the City of Lynwood would like to promote community
health, community building activities, charitable and similar activities in Lynwood that yield
an appropriate public purpose, consistent with the provisions of the California
Constitution, Art. XVI, sec. 6; and
WHEREAS, staff has determined that use of public funds for the provision of a
community-wide Weight Loss Challenge program meets the criteria set forth in the City's
Donation/Fee Waiver Policy; and
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY FIND, PROCLAIM, ORDER, AND RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. The City Council of the City of Lynwood finds and declares that the
foregoing recitals are true and correct, and incorporate said recitals fully into this
Resolution as substantive findings.
Section 2. The City Council approves the reallocation of 100% of the program's
registration fees to be used as a prize funds for the 2018 Lynwood Community Weight
Loss Challenge.
Section 3. The City Council authorizes staff to collect registration and other
program fees and to pay out program revenues to the 2018 program winners.
Section 4. The City Clerk shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
resolution.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED on this 19th day of December, 2017.
