A RESOLUTION OF THE LYNWOOD CITY COUNCIL AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR
TO ENTER INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH RING, LLC AND APPROVE AN
APPROPRIATION FROM THE GENERAL FUND IN THE AMOUNT OF $10,000 TO
GO TOWARDS THE LYNWOOD & RING SUBSIDY PROGRAM
WHEREAS, Consultant produces security cameras and video doorbells for
residential use which link smartphone users to their doorbell when the camera is
activated by motion or someone ringing the doorbell; and
WHEREAS, with this technology, the homeowner has the capability to see, hear
and speak to visitors through their smartphones, tablets or desktops; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to collaborate with Consultant to establish a
subsidized program whereby City residents can purchase Consultant's security cameras
and video doorbells for use at residences within the City at a discounted price to
enhance security and safety in the community.; and
WHEREAS, the City will subsidize a portion of the $100 discount at the rate of
$50 per unit, one per household, not exceeding the aggregate sum of$10,000; and
WHEREAS, the Consultant will match the City's $50 contribution towards the
grant program and will be operated on a first-come-first-served basis.
WHEREAS, the City Council finds that the dedication of public funds under this
Agreement will serve the safety of City residents, an issue of important public purpose.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD DOES
HEREBY RESOLVE AND DETERMINE AS FOLLOWS:
Section 1. That the City Council of the City of Lynwood approves and
authorizes the Mayor to enter into an agreement with Ring, LLC and approve an
appropriation from the general fund in the amount of$10,000 to go towards the Lynwood
& Ring Subsidy Program.
Section 2. This resolution shall go into effect immediately upon its adoption.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 4th day of September, 2018.
