AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
ADDING NEW SECTION 4252 TO THE TEMPLE
CITY MUNICIPAL CODE RELATING TO POLITICAL
SIGNS
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY
DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. The City Council hereby finds and
determines:
a) That the practice of pasting, posting, sticking,
tacking, hanging, affixing or placing of political signs, or posters upon vacant or unoccupied buildings within
the City, without the consent of the owner, holder, lessee,
agent, or trustee thereof, is a public nuisance.
b) That such practice is Currently being abused
through the indiscriminate posting on vacant and unoccupied
buildings, thereby calling attention to the fact of such
vacancy leading to malicious mischief, trespass and other
activities inimical to the public welfare.
SECTION 2. Sections 4252 and 4252.1 are hereby
added to the Temple City Municipal Code, as follows:
Sec. 4252. Political signs.
It shall be unlawful for any person
to paste, post, stick, tack, hang, affix or
place any political sign, card, or poster
upon any vacant or unoccupied building within
the City, without the prior consent of the
owner, holder, lessee, agent or trustee there-
of.
a) "Political" as used herein shall
mean relating to or concerning an election, a
candidate or ballot proposition.
b) "Unoccupied" as used herein shall
apply to any structure which is not currently
connected to utilities or as to which more than
75% remains unused.
c) "Consent" as used herein shall
mean a written document in form satisfactory
to the City Attorney and filed with the City
Clerk.
Sec. 4252.1. Same; Nuisance.
The activities described and proscribed
by Sec. 4252 above are hereby designated as
"sniping" and shall constitute a public nuisance
within this City subject to abatement and lien
as provided in Sec. 38771, et seq. of the
California Government Code.

SECTION 3. SEVERABILITY. If any section, sentence,
clause or phrase of this Ordinance is for any reason held by
a court of competent jurisdiction to be invalid, such
decision shall not affect the validity of the remaining
portions of this Ordinance. The City Council of the City of
Temple City hereby declares that it would have passed and
does hereby pass this Section and each sentence, section,
clause and phrase hereof, irrespective of the fact that any
one or more sections, sentences, clauses or phrases be
declared invalid or unconstitutional.
SECTION 4. PENALTY. Any person, firm or corpor-
ation violating this ordinance shall be guilty of a
misdemeanor and upon conviction thereof shall be punishable
by a fine of not more than $500.00, or by imprisonment in
the City or County jail for a period of not to exceed six
(6) months, or by both such fine 'and imprisonment.
SECTION 5. The City Clerk of the City of Temple
City shall certify to the passage and adoption of this
Ordinance and to its approval by the Mayor and shall cause
the same to be published in the Temple City Times, a news-
paper of general circulation, printed, published and
circulated in the City of Temple City.

Ordinance No. 66 -10.0, was introduced at a regular meeting of
the City Council of the City of Temple City, held on the
8th day of June , 1966, and was duly passed,
approved and adopted y said Council, signed by the Mayor and
attested by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of said
Council held on the 21st day of June , 1966, by the
following vote of the Council:
