AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY AMENDING
CERTAIN ZONING REGULATIONS APPLICABLE
TO PROPERTIES ZONED R -2 (Urgency Ordi-
nance).
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN
AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1. That the City Council of the City of Temple
City does hereby find, determine and declare, as follows:
A. That the Planning Commission has heretofore
initiated proceedings to amend the zoning regulations
applicable to properties zoned R -2, in connection
with the number of dwelling units permitted on pro-
perties in said zone; and
B. That said matter has heretofore been set for
a public hearing by said Commission; and
C. That the present regulations applicable to
R -2 zoned properties within the City, insofar as the
number of dwelling units to be permitted upon a lot
in said zone.are inconsistent and inappropriate; and
D. That it is necessary, pending the receipt by
the City Council of the Planning Commission's recom-
mendation in connection with said matter, that ex-
press provision be made by means of an Urgency Ordi-
nance, limiting the number of such units which can be
permitted upon an R -2 lot, in order to protect the
public health, safety and general welfare; and
E. That this Ordinance is necessary as an Urgency
Ordinance to impose such a limitation pending the out-
come of the Commission's studies and its recommendation
to the Council, since if such an ordinance is not so
adopted, development will take place upon R -2 zoned
lots within the City which will not be compatible with
the purpose and intent of the comprehensive zoning
ordinance of the City, and will be inconsistent with
the orderly and proper development of such R -2 zoned
properties.
SECTION 2. That Section 503 of the Temple City Munici-
pal Code, as adopted by Ordinance No. 63 -112, be, and the same
hereby is amended, to read as follows:
"503. Lot Area per Dwelling Unit. In all R -2 Zones
within the City, the lot area per dwelling unit shall be
not less than 3,600 square feet, provided that not more
than two (2) single family dwelling units, or one (1)
two (2) family dwelling unit shall be permitted, except
as provided in Subparagraph (5) of Section 501 of this
Code."

Urgency Ordinance, and a statement of facts constituting the
same as such, is as set forth hereinabove. This Ordinance shall
take effect immediately and shall remain in full force and
effect for a period of ninety (90) days from and after the date
of adoption hereof.
SECTION 4. That the City Clerk shall certify the adop-
tion of this Ordinance and cause the same to be published in
the manner prescribed by law.
