MEDINA CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 3, 2009
The City Council of Medina, Minnesota met in special session on February 3, 2009 at
9:03 p.m. in the Medina City Hall. Mayor Crosby presided.
I. Call to Order
Members present: Johnson, Weir, Crosby, Siitari, Smith

City Administrator Chad Adams and Public Works Superintendent

Adams provided an overview of the remaining discussion points from the January 29,
2009 special meeting.
• Discussion was held on recognizing employees and City volunteers through a
formal policy. The Council agreed to provide recognition through current
practice, not formal written policy.
• The Council agreed to support the 2009 general City business goals including
scheduling concurrent meetings with Park Commission or Planning Commission
only when need arises and preparation of economic development program.
• Discussion was held on lobbying for funds for the CR116/TH55 intersection
project. The Council agreed to allow Adams to attend a Washington D.C. Fly -In
at an estimated budget of $500.00.
• Discussion was held on approaching open space acquisitions. The Council agreed
to not pursue acquisition of open space land, but requested the management plan
be completed for the Tomann property before accepting its donation to the City.
• Discussion was held on High -Speed internet services in the City. The Council
agreed to continue facilitating communications with service providers and the
residents and to not explore City ownership/management of the services.
• Discussion was held on summer flex hours. The Council agreed to consider the
flexible hours as long as City Hall remains open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
• The Council agreed to support the 2009 legislative policies including
administrative fines for Police, transportation funding, clean water funding, tax
levy restrictions, construction codes as applied with sustainable design and energy
efficiency, and inclusionary housing.
III. Adjournment
Weir moved, seconded by Smith to adjourn at 9:55 p.m. Motion passed unanimously.
