Minutes
May 21st, 2012
Present: Bill Garbett, Joe Griffin, Neca Stoller, Sue Bentley, Chantel Morton, Monty Parks, Dottie Kluttz, Cullen Chambers. Special Guest: Louise White.
Monty Parks made the motion to accept the minutes from the April meeting. 2nd by Sue Bentley. All in favor.
The Commission discussed the demolition section of Article 14 of the Tybee Land Development Code. Items discussed were: what role if any the HPC would play in reviewing applications
for demolition. The members also discussed recommending that the existing 45 day turn around period be extended to go days.
Neca Stoller recommended that a provision for provided for a public hearing on demolition request if one was requested.
Bill Garbett recommended that a qualified person be appointed by the HPC to make a site visit to determine the appropriateness of the demolition request. Cullen stated that as the Historic
Preservation Advisor to the HPC he had been making those site visits but that it would be appropriate if individual HPC members also made site visits.
Cullen requested that members review the Historic Preservation Ordinance section and to be prepared to recommend changes if any.
