AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE
CITY AMENDING SECTION 1001 OF THE
TEMPLE CITY ZONING CODE (Kennels)
THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF TEMPLE CITY DOES ORDAIN:
SECTION 1. The City Council finds and determines that the
amendment hereinafter set forth was initiated by the Planning Commis-
sion and has been processed according to State Law and City Ordinance,
that the same has been previously recommended by the Planning Commis-
sion, that a supplemental report thereon has been received by such
Planning Commission, and that the same is in the best interests of the
community for the reason that kennels have proven a demonstrable pro-
blem and is a use which necessitates both review as to location and
the propriety of reasonable conditions in connection with any such
permit.
SECTION 2. Subsection (40) of Section 1001 of the Temple,
City Zoning Code is hereby amended to read as follows:
(a) Small animal hospitals, kennels and veterinary
offices; provided the building or structure is complete-
ly sound - proofed; all run areas are completely sur-
rounded by an eight (8) foot solid masonry wall;
the animal runs are constructed in such a manner
that no animal can see one another; and an incinera-
tor of a type recommended by the Health Department
shall be installed. This subsection (a) shall not
be effective as to any such use commenced after
January 3, 1967, nor to any structural enlargement or
extension of any such use commenced thereafter, and
non - conforming uses, which pre- existed January 3,
1967, may be continued pursuant to and subject to
the limitations set forth in Article 17 hereof;
provided, however, that . such preexisting use shall
not be deemed non - conforming from the standpoint
of being subject to amortization, nor shall the
same be deemed to authorize either:
i) Extensions or enlargements of such uses, or
ii) Structural repairs or re- construction in
an amount constituting more than fifty percent
(50 %) of the value of the improvements devoted
to such within any three (3) year period -
unless such conditional use permit is first
issued with respect thereto.
(b) Any such use, hereafter constructed or put to
such use, shall obtain a pre- requisite conditional
use permit pursuant to the provisions of Article 18
hereof and shall operate only in compliance with the
conditions of such use permit and of any other applic-
able ordinances of the City.
SECTION 3. The City Clerk of the City of Temple City shall
certify to the passage and adoption of this Ordinance and to its ap-
proval by the Mayor and shall cause the same to be published in the
Temple City Times, a newspaper of general circulation, printed, pub -
lished and circulated in the City of Temple City.

by the City Clerk at a regular meeting of said Council held on the
17th day of January, 1967, by the following vote of the Council:
