HomeMy Public PortalAbout07-14-2014 COW MinutesMinutes of the Committee of the Whole Workshop of the President and the Board of Trustees Held on J uly 14 , 2014 In the Boardroom Mayor Collins called the meeting to order at 7:0 0 p.m. Present were: Mayor Collins, Trustee Bonuchi, Trustee Fay, Trustee Lamb, Trustee Peck, and Trustee Racich . Board absent: Trustee Rippy. Others present: Brian Murphy, Administrator; Michelle Gibas, Village Clerk; Allen Persons, Public Works Dire ctor; Doug Kissel, Wastewater Superintendent ; Michael Garrigan, Planning Supervisor; Dean Marquez, Building Supervisor; and John Konopek, Chief of Police. There were approximately 6 persons in the audience. Trustee Fay moved to approve the Minutes of th e Committee of the Whole Workshop held on June 23 , 2014. Second by Trustee Peck. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 Opposed. PRESIDENTIAL COMMENTS Mayor Collins encouraged everyone to come out to Plainfield Days this weekend. TRUSTEES COMMENTS None PUBLIC COMMENTS None WORKSHOP MEETING #1 SALAMIE CONCEPT PLAN This item was removed from the Agenda at the request of the applicant. #2 LOWER DUPAGE RIVER WATERSHED COALITION PRESENTATION Ms. Jennifer Hammer, The Conservation Foundation, gave a presentation regarding the Lower DuPage River Watershed Coalition highlighting 2013 review . Ms. Hammer gave an overview of 2014 including obtaining 501 (c)(3) status, the Bioassessment Report to be completed in August, preparations for 2015 sampling, dissolved oxygen monitoring, and education and outreach programs. Ms. Hammer further reviewed financial levering, bioasssessment, and the Illinois Statewide Nutrient Loss Reduction Strategy. Trustee Lamb suggested putting together a strategic plan to help focus and prior itize things. Trustee Lamb also suggested collecting data on lakes or perhaps allowing Homeowners Associations borrow equipment to test their lakes. Ms. Hammer pointed out that and that The Conservation Foundation and Conservation Plainfield will be host ing a Presentation and Tour of the Conservation Foundation's McDonald Farm on Wednesday, July 16, 2014 - 6:00 p .m . to 9:00 p .m . at McDonald Farm , 10 S 404 Knoch Knolls, Road , Naperville . Mayor Collins thanked Ms. Hammer for the presentation and read the r eminders. Trustee Fay moved to adjourn. Seconded by Trustee Peck. Voice Vote. All in favor, 0 Opposed.
